Why was World UFO Day celebrated on two different dates?

Earlier, many people celebrated World UFO Day on June 24. Kenneth Arnold, an American aviator, was flying an aircraft on June 24, 1947, when he saw around 9, nine unidentifiable objects flying next to each other. Arnold's sighting of a UFO is the first one reported in the United States.

However, no proof was found, and the US Air Force officials said that the Arnold case was a mirage.

Other people celebrated it on July 2, the day the Roswell UFO crash took place in 1947. This crash was speculated to be a flying disc crash. Later July 2 was officially recognised as World UFO Day by the World UFO Day Organization (WUFODO).
