School Innovation Ambassador Training Program [SIATP]

The Education Ministry of India and the Tribal Affairs have collaborated to launch School Innovation Ambassador Training Program (SIATP). It is directed towards the teachers across the country and helps them build essential crucial skills like product development, design thinking, etc. The training will be implemented online, so it reaches a broader audience.

What is School Innovation Ambassador Training Program?

The School Innovation Ambassador Training Program was launched and developed by two official organisations. They are- The Union Education Minister and Union Tribal Affairs Minister. The Adi-Prashikshan portal is another program launched by The Ministry of Tribal Affairs, a repository of training inputs.

It will make the teachers ambassadors of innovation impart the same knowledge and skillset to their students. The Innovation Cell was established to encourage the culture of innovation across Higher Education Institutions in the country. At the same time, the AICTE was established in the year 2018.

School Innovation Ambassador Training Program Aim

The program aims at training at least 50,000 teachers in the fields of innovation, design thinking, idea generation, Intellectual Property Rights (IPR), entrepreneurship, and much more.

School Innovation Ambassador Training Program will train the teachers to be pioneers to lead the students to a brighter future.

The program is essentially designed by the Innovation Cell of the Ministry of Education and the All India Council for Technical Education AICTE for the faculty members of higher education.

Role of the School Innovation Ambassador Training Program

Below are some responsibilities and roles of the ambassadors as prescribed under the School Innovation Ambassador Training Program -

  • Mentoring teachers and students of their school and other nearby schools
  • Aid in building a culture of innovation in their schools
  • Ambassadors should act as an evaluator or judge for Idea Competitions held at the national level
  • Offer support to other nearby schools in terms of resources, knowledge, and skills
  • Be a mentor for further innovation and related programs or activities implemented at the national level
  • Propagate the message of innovation and start-ups businesses among the students and faculty of their school

School Innovation Ambassador Training Program Criteria

The following are specific criteria or qualities needed in a teacher for nominating them for the School Innovation Ambassador Training Program -

  • They should have excellent communication skills and analytical skills.
  • They should demonstrate problem-solving skills.
  • They should be readily involved and encourage others to develop innovative student projects.
  • They should have previously participated in any innovation or science exhibition, creativity or idea competitions, hackathons, etc.
  • They should be passionate about working with students on building new ideas.

Students are the future of our country. They will grow up and be the future doctors, engineers, artists, dancers, etc., of our country. To ensure they excel in their chosen field, they should be adequately trained by their teachers. This School Innovation Ambassador Training Program will provide the teachers are equipped with the required skillset and knowledge to cultivate a bright future for their students.
