The International Day in Support of Victims of Torture is acknowledged on 26th June. The day came into effect after the resolution 52/149 was passed on 12th December 1997. Under this resolution, the complete eradication of torture was aimed. 26th June was picked as on this day in 1987, the UN Convention against torture and other cruel, inhuman or degrading treatment was established and approved by 162 countries.
