REET Eligibility, Age Limit, Qualification, Qualifying Marks

REET eligibility is prescribed by the Board of Secondary Education, Rajasthan. Candidates who wish to apply for the exam must satisfy various conditions included in the REET eligibility criteria.

REET eligibility is the minimum requirement that must be fulfilled by the candidates aspiring to take the exam. The eligibility criteria are formulated by the concerned authority considering the level of the exam. REET eligibility criteria include age limit, and education separately for both Level 1 and Level 2.

Candidates must confirm their eligibility prior to applying for the exam. To apply for Primary level and Upper Primary level exams they should check REET eligibility for Level 1 and Level 2 respectively.

REET Eligibility Criteria 2023

The eligibility criteria for REET should be fulfilled by candidates if they want to contest the exam. If a candidate fails to meet the REET eligibility at any stage then his/her candidature shall be liable for cancellation. Also, the certificate will not be issued to them. Hence, meeting the different parameters of  REET eligibility 2023 is of utmost importance.

Although the age limit may be the same for both primary and upper primary, the educational requirement varies according to the post the candidates have applied for. Apart from the age limit and educational qualification, the minimum qualifying marks mentioned in REET eligibility criteria should be obtained by candidates in their graduation or school education.

REET Eligibility: Educational Qualification

Candidates who want to apply for the exam must fulfill the minimum educational qualification. The educational qualification mentioned in the REET eligibility criteria varies depending on the Level/Paper for which candidates have applied. To fill out the REET application form and take the exam, a candidate must fulfill one of the following educational qualifications.

REET Educational Qualification for Level 1

Here is the educational qualification required to appear for the REET Level 1:

  • Senior Secondary or equivalent to 50% marks and passed or appearing in the final year of 2nd-year Diploma in Elementary Education (by whatever name known) OR
  • Senior Secondary or equivalent to 50% marks and passed or appearing in the final year of 4th year Bachelor of Elementary Education (B.El.Ed). OR
  • Senior Secondary or equivalent to 50% marks and passed or appearing in the final year of 2nd-year Diploma in Education (Special Education). OR
  • Graduation and passed or appearing in the final year of a two-year Diploma in Elementary Education (by whatever name known).

Note: According to NCTE, B.Ed candidates are not eligible for REET Level 1.

REET Educational Qualification for Level 2

The following is the educational requirement for taking the REET Level 2 exam:

  • Graduation and passed or appearing in the final year of a 2-year Diploma in Elementary Education (by whatever name known). OR
  • Graduation with at least 50% marks and passed or appearing in 1 year Bachelor in Education. OR
  • Graduation with at least 45% marks and passed or appearing in 1 year Bachelor in Education, by the NCTE Regulations issued from time to time in this regard. OR
  • Senior Secondary or it is equivalent to 50% marks and passed or appearing in the final year of a 4-year Bachelor in Elementary Education (B.El.Ed). OR
  • Senior Secondary or it is equivalent to 50% marks and passed or appearing in the final year of a 4-year B.A/B.Sc.Ed or B.A.Ed/B.Sc.Ed. OR
  • Graduation with at least 50% marks and passed or appearing in 1-year B.Ed. (Special Education).
  • Graduation and passed or appearing in the final year of a 2-year Bachelor of Education (by whatever name known).

Note: According to NCTE, Commerce candidates can also apply for level 2 under the Social Studies section

REET Age Limit Criteria

According to the age limit stated in the REET eligibility criteria, a candidate of 18 years of age can apply for the exam. However, the maximum age varies from category to category for the details have been provided in the table given below. Candidates failing to fall in the REET age limit criteria will not be allowed to appear in the examination.

Qualifying Marks as per REET Eligibility

The minimum marks required to pass the written test are the qualifying marks. As per the REET eligibility criteria, a candidate has to obtain the overall qualifying marks to get selected for recruitment. The candidate securing 60% or more in the examination will be declared qualified. Reserved categories like SC, ST, OBC, EWS, and PWD are eligible for a relaxation of 5% in the qualifying marks. REET Eligibility Criteria FAQs

  • Candidates must be 18 years of age to apply for REET 2023. As per the REET eligibility criteria, there is a category-wise maximum age limit which varies for each category.

  • Candidates must have Senior Secondary or equivalent to 50% marks and passed or appearing in the final year of 2nd-year Diploma in Elementary Education in order to appear for REET Level 1 teacher exam.

  • To apply for REET level 2 a candidate should possess a Graduation degree and pass or appear in Diploma in Elementary Education (by whatever name known). Also, they should have obtained the minimum percentage prescribed in the REET eligibility. 
  • As per the REET eligibility, candidates need to score minimum marks in the written test to get the certificate through which they will be able to apply to any private school in the state. The detailed category-wise cut-off has been provided in the above post.
