JEE Main 2017:Reservation Criteria

Reservation is the process of reserving some specific number of seats to a particular social category based on caste , gender etc . Based on some rules and regulations, some definite number of seats are fixed in every institution.

Every year , Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) Main and JEE Advanced candidates is conducted for admissions to 23 IITs, 31 NITs, 20 IIITs and 18 GFTIs.

So here is the complete information about the reservation, detailing about the reservation criteria of JEE Main that is conducted for admissions to 31NITs, 18 IIITs and  and GFTIs( Government Funded Technical Institutions)

Based on the reservation guidelines for admissions to these premiere institutes, seats are alotted to these categories - Scheduled Tribe, Scheduled Caste, Other Backward Class, Person with Disability (40% or more disability).

RESERVATION BASED ON CATEGORY-

The qualified candidates are divided into categories by government and private institutes. Based on division of categories such as Scheduled Tribes (ST), Scheduled Castes (SC) and Other Backward Castes (OBC), the institutes reserve certain number of seats for them.

RESERVATION BASED ON GENDER: 

 A female candidate can apply under All India Level or Women Quota System since most of the colleges reserve five per cent seats for female candidates.

 STATEWISE RESERVATION -

Home state Quota -

Aspirants of JEE Main who have passed class XII from a particular state and have cleared the examination will get preference in admission to the institutes of that state as compared to those who are from outside.

Other state Quota-

This comprises JEE Main aspirants who are applying from other states and union territories, apart from the home state.

 NIT Warangal has three types of Reservation Quota - Home State Quota, Other State Quota and Andhra Pradesh Quota

 

  • Home State Quota - Candidates whose Home State is Telangana
  • Other States Quota - Other States candidates (including Andhra Pradesh)
  • Andhra Pradesh Quota* - Candidates whose Home State is Andhra Pradesh

  •  Certificate for persons with Disabilities (if applicable)
  • Certificate of category, in a prescribed format issued by the competent authority.

CLAIMING RESERVATION -

For any kind of reservation whether it is based on category, gender or state , one needs to present the required document at the time of counseling. And if he/she fails to do so, he/she will not be getting benefit of reservation.
