JEE Advanced Exam 2021

IIT JEE Advanced 2021 will be conducted by IIT Kharagpur on 3 July 2021 for taking admissions in the Indian Institute of Technology, IITs. JEE Advanced 2021 exam date has been announced by the Union Cabinet Minister. The candidates who will clear JEE Mains will be eligible to take the JEE Advanced 2021 Test. Those who missed the JEE Advanced 2020 due to COVID-19 pandemic will be allowed to re-appear for the JEE Advanced exam in 2021. 


Major Highlights For JEE Advanced 2021

  • The JEE Advanced eligibility criteria for admission in IITs & the date of JEE Advanced has been announced by Union Cabinet Minister for Education
  • JEE Advanced 2021 exam will be held on 3 July 2021
  • Last Date to apply for JEE Main 2021 is January 16 2021
  • Students who could not take the IIT entrance exam 2020– JEE Advanced will be allowed an extra chance to appear for the test in 2021, the Joint Admission Board (JAB) decided on 14th October in an emergency meeting.
  • Out of the 2.5 lakh students who were eligible to appear only 1.5 lakh had appeared for the JEE Advanced 2020.

JEE Advanced 2021 Eligibility Criteria

To get admission in IITs, you must have to qualify JEE Main. You should have obtained at least 75% marks in the Class 12 board exam. For reserved category candidates, the aggregate marks required is 65%. The JEE Advanced eligibility criteria 2021 aspirants have been given below:

  • JEE Mains Performance

You have to rank among the top 2,50,000 successful candidates in the B.E./B.Tech paper of JEE Main 2021.

  • Age Limit

You have to be within the specified age limit of 15 years. The exact dates of birth of eligible applicants will be notified through the official information brochure for JEE Advanced 2021. 

  • Total No. of Attempts

You should have taken only two attempts in two consecutive years in the JEE (Advanced). However, as per a meeting held on 14th October 2020, the candidates who could not take the JEE Advanced 2020 Exam are eligible to appear for JEE Advanced 2021 Exam.

  • Class 12th Based Criteria

You should have passed Class 12th or equivalent examination with Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics as compulsory subjects. 

  • Previous Year Admission to IITs or NITs

You must not have been admitted to an IIT or NIT before. This is irrespective of whether you accepted the admission by reporting to the designated institute in the past or continued in the program. If your IIT admission was cancelled in the past after joining any IIT even then you are not eligible to apply for the JEE Advanced 2021 examination. 

JEE Advanced Application Form 2021

The candidates who have cleared the JEE Mains 2021, only they will be allowed to register for JEE Advanced. One has to get a rank among the top 2,50,000 to appear for JEE Advanced 2021 Exam. The steps for IIT JEE Advanced 2021 are as follows.


Step 1 – Registration for JEE Advanced 2020

  • The first step is to register for JEE Advanced 2020. The link to register for the exam will be provided below immediately after the same is released by the authorities.
  • For this you need to log in on the JEE Advanced registration website using their JEE Main 2021 roll number, password, and security pin. Foreign candidates can apply directly by filling the online registration form. They must note down their Login ID and Password. 

Step 2 – Uploading documents

At this step, aspirants need to upload the scanned certificates in the required format.

Step 3 – Payment of JEE Advanced registration fees

The third step is to pay the JEE Advanced registration fee. The fee can be paid in both online and offline mode.

Step 4 – Printing of Confirmation Page

After paying the JEE Advanced 2020 application fee successfully, aspirants will have to submit the application form finally and take a printout of the confirmation page and keep it safe for future use.

JEE Advanced Exam Pattern

The exam pattern for JEE Advanced comprises of three subjects, || Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics || JEE Advanced comprises two papers, Paper I and Paper 2. Both the papers are held on the same day with different time intervals. 

  • The JEE Advanced examination will be held in Online Mode.
  • The paper will be set in English and Hindi.
  • JEE Advanced will have negative marking. However, the detailed marking scheme is indicated in the “Instructions to Candidates” section in the question booklet. 
  • The duration of JEE Advanced is 3 hours for each paper. 

JEE Advanced Exam Pattern

The JEE Advanced Exam Pattern 2021 has been given below. The JEE Advanced Question Paper will carry Multiple Choice Objective Type Questions, Numerical Value Answer Type Questions as well as Paragraph based questions. The following is the pattern for the JEE Advanced Paper Pattern for Paper I and Paper-II in Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics.

How To Prepare For JEE Advanced 2021?

In order to prepare for JEE Advanced 2021, you should begin your preparation from the first day itself. You should not let go any day when you have not studied for JEE Advanced 2021. 


During the Initial Preparatory Days of JEE Advanced

  • Initially, you will come across a number of new chapters and topics. So, you need to grasp those chapters and the concepts thoroughly.
  • Avoid skipping any chapter.
  • After completing each chapter, solve the daily practice papers (DPP). In this way you will come across your weak areas related to that particular chapter.

JEE Advanced 2021 Admit Card

The JEE Advanced Admit Card 2021 will be released for the candidates who will clear the JEE MAins 2021. It is released about a month prior to the date of JEE Advanced Exam Date. You will have to take a print out of the admit card in order to appear for the test. 

It will have your personal details, exam centre, exam date, exam day instructions, your photograph printed on it. 

You have to carry the print out of the JEE Advanced 2021 Admit Card as well as an original Government approved ID Card such as Aadhar Card, 10th Certificate.

JEE Advanced Result 2021

Once the Exam of IIT JEE Advanced 2021 is successfully conducted, you will receive your results.

  • For B.E/B.Tech, the result will have the marks obtained in Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics individually and also the total score.
  • For B.Arch. students, the result will show marks obtained in Mathematics, Aptitude Test and Planning along with the total score obtained.

JEE Advanced Counseling 2021

After the declaration of the JEE Advanced 2021 Result, JEE counseling will be done. The counselling is done in the following processes.

  • Registration for JEE Advanced 2021 Counselling:  You have to register online for JEE Advanced 2021 Counselling. You need to enter your JEE Main Roll Number and JEE Advanced Password to login and reconfirm the previously filled details. 
  • Choice Filling and Locking: In this process you have to fill up your choices as per branch, course and institute preference. You can change, edit, delete or add new choices until finalizing their choices. You must lock their final choices before the due dates failing which leads to automated locking of choices. You can select a maximum of 50 choices during the online locking of choices. 
  • Allotment of Seats: JoSAA will conduct two mock allotments to indicate the candidates about their probable allotment as per their current choices.
  • Reporting to Allotted Colleges: After these steps you will be asked to report to the Zonal IIT after the seats are allotted to you. You should be present in person for verification of documents and payment of admission fee. The admission fee will be updated here.

Granting Provisional Admission to candidates: The institutes will issue a final allotment letter and grant provisional admission to candidates after verifying the documents and the fee is paid by the candidate. If you fail to meet any eligibility criteria or are caught providing false information/documents will be debarred from the counselling process and your admission would be immediately deemed canceled.
