PM Ayushman Bharat Health Infrastructure Mission
Why in News
- Prime Minister Narendra Modi launched PM Ayushman Bharat Health Infrastructure Mission from Varanasi, Uttar Pradesh.
- He also inaugurated 9 Medical Colleges in Uttar Pradesh. These are in the districts of Siddharthnagar, Etah, Hardoi, Pratapgarh, Fatehpur, Deoria, Ghazipur, Mirzapur and Jaunpur.
Key Points
About PM Ayushman Bharat Health Infrastructure Mission:
- It is one of the largest pan-India schemes for strengthening healthcare infrastructure across the country.
- It is in addition to the National Health Mission.
- The objective of the Mission is to fill critical gaps in public health infrastructure, especially in critical care facilities and primary care in both the urban and rural areas.
- It will provide support for 17,788 rural Health and Wellness Centres in 10 High Focus States. Further, 11,024 urban Health and Wellness Centres will be established in all the States.
- Under the Mission, a National Institution for One Health, 4 New National Institutes for Virology, a Regional Research Platform for WHO South East Asia Region, 9 Biosafety Level III laboratories, 5 New Regional National Centre for Disease Control will be set up.
- The mission targets to build an IT enabled disease surveillance system by developing a network of surveillance laboratories at block, district, regional and national levels, in Metropolitan areas.

National Steering Committee for implementation of the NIPUN Bharat Mission
Why in News
- A National Steering Committee (NSC) for implementation of the NIPUN Bharat Mission has been constituted under the Chairpersonship of the Union Education Minister, Dharmendra Pradhan and Vice Chairpersonship of Minister of State for Education, Smt. Annpurna Devi.
Key Points
Objective:
- The main objective of the committee will be to oversee the progress of the National Mission on Foundational Literacy and Numeracy and provide guidance on policy issues and achieve the desired target in 2026-27.
- The committee will review programmatic and financial norms periodically to ensure they are synchronised with targets to be achieved.
About NIPUN Bharat Mission:
- The Department of School Education and Literacy had launched the National Initiative for Proficiency in Reading with Understanding and Numeracy (NIPUN) Bharat Mission on 5th July 2021.
- Its aim is to achieve the goal of universal proficiency in foundational literacy and numeracy for every child by the end of grade 3, by 2026-27, as envisaged by National Education Policy 2020.
Note: Recently, Union Minister for Education Dharmendra Pradhan launched phase-II of Mahatma Gandhi National Fellowship, a two-year-long fellowship conceived to create opportunities for young, dynamic individuals to contribute to enhancing skill development at the grassroots.

- R K Singh, Union Minister of Power & New and Renewable Energy launched the new market segment, Green Day Ahead Market (GDAM).
Key Points
- The launch of the Green Day Ahead Market (GDAM) will deepen the green market and will provide competitive price signals, besides offering an opportunity to the market participants to trade in green energy, in the most transparent, flexible, competitive, and efficient manner.
- The introduction of GDAM is expected to create a domino effect that will lead to a gradual shift from Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) based contracts to market-based models which will build and deepen the markets to the next level, paving the way for India to meet its ambitious target of 450 GW green capacity by 2030.
- National Load Despatch Centre (NLDC), POSOCO, as the Nodal Agency, has set up the latest technologies and communication infrastructure for facilitating the Green Day Ahead Market.

- Azadi Amrut Chai was launched by the Union Heavy Industries Minister, Dr. Mahendra Nath Pandey.

- M/s Andrew Yule & Co Ltd, a Central Public Sector Enterprise in Tea Sector under Ministry of Heavy Industries has come out with a series of Azadi Amrut Chai in Orthodox, Elaichi, Adrakh and Masala flavors to commemorate the 75th year of India’s Independence and to celebrate Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav.
- It will be available for retail sale soon at an introductory price of Rs 75 per 100 gms pack, at Tea Board counter of Parliament, Trifed outlets, Udyog Bhawan and other Central Government offices.

Kerala wins award for ‘city with most sustainable transport system’
Why in News
- Kerala has won the award for the ‘city with the most sustainable transport system’.
Key Points
- The award has been given in recognition of the projects implemented — like Kochi Metro, Water Metro and e-mobility — to enhance the transport facilities in the city of Kochi.
- The formation of the Kochi Open Mobility Network, which digitized and integrated various transport facilities, also helped to win the award.
- The award would be presented in Delhi by Union Minister for Housing and Urban Affairs Hardeep Singh Puri.
- The award is given in recognition of the transport facilities in various states and Union Territories of India.

- The Vice President of India, M Venkaiah Naidu conferred National Film Awards for the year 2019 in various categories at its 67th edition along with the prestigious Dada Saheb Phalke Award.

Uttar Pradesh to rename Faizabad Railway Junction as Ayodhya Cantt
Why in News
- The Uttar Pradesh government has decided to rename the Faizabad Railway Junction as Ayodhya Cantt Railway Station.
Key Points
- According to the procedure, the state government sends a proposal to the Ministry of Home Affairs, from where it goes to the Railway Board for final implementation.
Note:
- Earlier in 2018, the Yogi Adityanath government had renamed Faizabad as Ayodhya.
- The UP government had also changed the name of Allahabad to Prayagraj and the Central government had changed Mughalsarai Railway Junction as Pt Deen Dayal Upadhyay Junction.

- The President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev has been re-elected for a second five-year term by winning 80.1% of the vote.
Key Points
- Shavkat Mirziyoyev is an Uzbek politician who has been serving as the President of Uzbekistan and Supreme Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Uzbekistan since 2016.
- Previously he was the Prime Minister of Uzbekistan from 2003 to 2016.
