  • Late photojournalist Danish Siddiqui (Reuters) has been honoured with his second prestigious Pulitzer Prize in the feature photography category with other three Indian journalists.
  • Other three Indians: Adnan Abidi, Sanna Irshad Mattoo and Amit Dave.
  • He was honoured with the prestigious award in 2018 for their coverage of the Rohingya crisis.
  • Pulitzer Prize was established by Joseph Pulitzer (Hungarian-American journalist).
  • Presented by: Columbia University

2. Indian GM D Gukesh wins Sunway Formentera Open chess tournament

  • GM Gukesh has defeated GM Haik M Martirosyan (Armenian) in the final round.

  • He had defeated K Sasikiran (Indian) in the ninth and penultimate round.

3. RailTel launches PM-WANI based access to its Wi-Fi at 100 railway stations

  • Android users can access this WiFi network by downloading the mobile app ‘Wi-DOT’ from Google Play Store.
  • This app has been developed in association with C-DOT.

7. RBI approves the merger of Equitas SFB, Equitas Holdings

12. Santoor maestro Pandit Shiv Kumar Sharma dies

  • Veteran music composer and santoor player, Pandit Shiv Kumar Sharma passed away in Mumbai at 84 due to cardiac arrest.
  • He was born in Jammu in 1938 and is believed to be the first musician to have played Indian classical music on the santoor.
  • Awards: Sangeet Natak Akademi Award (1986), Padma Shri (1991), and Padma Vibhushan (2001)
  • He was suffering from kidney-related issues for the last six months and was on dialysis.
