Why in News:

• The Proud Boys, members of a far-right group, have been charged with seditious conspiracy to commit a "coordinated attack" on the US Capitol.

key points:

• The Proud Boys is an American far-right, neo-fascist, and exclusively male organization that promotes political violence in the United States.
• The Proud Boys are an extremist group formed during the 2016 US presidential elections.
• The Proud Boys group was founded by Vice Media co-founder and former commentator Gavin McInnes.
• Five members of The Proud Boys group, (including the former chairman) have been indicted on charges of seditious conspiracy in June 2022, for their alleged roles in the June 2022 United States Capitol attack.

Way Finding Application

Why in News:

• The Union Cabinet chaired by Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi proposes to sign an agreement between the Government of India and the United Nations on the 'Way Finding Application' to be used at the United Nations Office (UNOG) at Palais des Nations, Geneva. Approval granted.

key points:

• The United Nations (UN) is an international organization established in the year 1945, India is a founding member of the United Nations and currently has 193 member countries.
• The project for the development of the 'Way Finding Application' was envisaged by the Government of India in 2020 as a donation to the United Nations on the occasion of its 75th anniversary.
• The project involves the development, deployment, and maintenance of a software-based 'wayfinding application' for the Directional Facility at UNLG's Palais des Nations campus within 21 floors spread across five UNG buildings. Users can be enabled to find their way from one place to another.
• The development of this app will be done by the Center for Development of Telematics (C-DOT), an autonomous telecom research and development center of the Department of Telecommunications (DOT), Government of India.

8-day mango festival (13 June - 20 June 2022)

Why in News:

• To promote mango exports, APEDA organized an 8-day Mango Festival in Bahrain, which was inaugurated by the Indian Ambassador to Bahrain, Mr. Piyush Srivastava in the presence of Mr. Abdul Hussain Khaleel Dawani, Chairman, Al Jazeera Group.

key points:

• To boost mango exports, an eight-day Mango Festival was launched in the Kingdom of Bahrain by the Agricultural and Processed Food Products Export Development Authority (APEDA) in collaboration with the Embassy of India and the Al Jazeera Group.
• In the eight-day Mango Festival, 34 varieties of mangoes from the eastern states of West Bengal, Bihar, Jharkhand, Uttar Pradesh, and Odisha are displayed at eight different locations of the Al Jazeera Group supermarket in Bahrain.
• Out of 34 mango varieties, 27 have been procured from West Bengal, while two varieties each have been procured from Bihar, Jharkhand, and Odisha, and one variety from Uttar Pradesh.
• All varieties of mangoes have been procured directly from farmers and two farmer producer organisations.
• All 34 varieties of Indian mangoes are on display at eight different Al Jazeera stores located in Bahrain's Hamla, Mhowz, Zing, Jafar, Budaiya, Adiliya, Seef and Rifa, as well as mango cakes, juices, prepared at Al Jazeera Bakery, Mango Shake etc. have also been performed at various festivals.
• For the first time, 34 varieties of mangoes from the eastern states have been displayed in Bahrain. On earlier occasions, most of the global shows displayed mango varieties from southern and western regions like Alphonso, Kesar, Banganapalli etc.

• Jagadguru Sreesanth Tukaram Maharaj Shila Mandir inaugurated by Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi in Dehu, Pune

key points:

• Sant Tukaram was born in the year 1598 in Dehu village of Pune district, his father's name was Bolhoba and his mother's name was Kankai.
• Due to family discord over their second wife, Saint Tukaram went to the Manantirtha mountain north of the Narayani River and began to perform bhajans, where he composed the devotional poem 'Abhyanga'.
• Sant Tukaram Varkari was a saint and poet, known for community-centered worship through abhyanga devotional poetry and spiritual songs known as kirtan, a rock temple built after the death of Jagadguru Sreesanth Tukaram Maharaj, but it was not formal, although not originally created. As a temple, this temple is built through stone masonry with 36 peaks in which the statue of Sant Tukaram is present.
• He is worshipped by the people of the Warkari community in Maharashtra.

Project Information and Management Module of Single Window Solution System (SWCS) launched by the Ministry of Coal

Why in News:

• The Project Information and Management module of the Single Window Resolution System (SWCS) was launched by the Ministry of Coal in New Delhi.

key points:

• The Project Information and Management module of the Single Window Solution System (SWCS) has been developed by the Ministry of Coal as an integrated platform to facilitate ease of doing business.
• The Coal Holding Areas (Acquisition and Development) Act, 1957, for Telangana and West Bengal, for integration with the already operational module and for approval of mining plan in SWCS module, time-bound completion plan and entry portal, digital acceptance of objection included under section. 8(1) Consent Management System.
• The objective of this project is to complete the digital linkage between the mine allottee and the Information and Management module of the Ministry and provide digital solutions in respect of the respective blocks.
• Various features have been included in the SWCS module which includes various features like Bank Guarantee, Advance Payment, Basic Sanctions, Show Cause Notice, and Court Case Management.

Io-tech-world receive first type certificate

Why in discussion:

• Gurugram-based IO-Tech-world was awarded the first-of-its-kind certificate by Union Civil Aviation Minister under Drone Rules, 2021.

key points:

• Such a certificate has been given to io-tech-world 34 days after the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) submitted his online application on the Digital Sky platform.
• The Drone Rules, 2021 was notified on 25th August 2021 and the 'Certification Scheme for Unmanned Aircraft Systems (CSUAS) for obtaining Type Certificate (TC) for Drones' was notified on 26th January 2022.
• There are three world-renowned certification bodies (CBs) approved by the Quality Council of India - TQ CERT, UL India, and Bureau Veritas, and drone manufacturers are free to approach any certification body for testing their drone prototypes.
• Drones offer tremendous benefits in almost all sectors of the economy, including agriculture, mining, infrastructure, surveillance, emergency response, transportation, geospatial mapping, defense, and law enforcement.

'Agneepath' scheme

Why in News:

• In a transformational reform, the cabinet has approved the 'Agneepath' scheme for the recruitment of youth in the armed forces.

key points:

• In the 'Agneepath' scheme, Agniveers will be enrolled for four years under the respective Service Acts.
• The objective of the 'Agneepath' scheme is to provide opportunities to such youth who may be willing to wear uniforms by attracting young talents from the society and who are in line with the contemporary technological trends and cater to skilled, disciplined, and motivated manpower in the society.
• Agniveers will be provided with an attractive customized monthly package with risk and hardship allowances as applicable across the three Services and on completion of the tenure of four years, Agniveers will be paid a lump sum 'Service Fund' package, which will include their contribution as well as Interest earned thereon and contribution equal to the accumulated amount of their contribution from the government will also be included.
• The 'Service Fund' constituted under the 'Agneepath' scheme will be exempted from income tax and will not be entitled to gratuity and pensionary benefits, but Agniveers will be provided with a non-contributory life insurance cover of Rs 48 lakh for their tenure in the Indian Armed Forces. Will be done.
• Note- A total of 46,000 firefighters will be recruited this year under the 'Agneepath' scheme.

Baba Yogendra passed away

• Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi condoled the demise of Baba Yogendra, the National Patron of Padma Shri and Sanskar Bharati.
• Baba Yogendra, a founding member of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) cultural wing Sanskar Bharati, passed away at the age of 98 in Lucknow.
• Baba Yogendra was born in the Basti district of Uttar Pradesh.
• After coming in contact with Baba Yogendra Nanaji Deshmukh, Baba Yogendra became a pracharak of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh.
