The United Nations General Assembly worked under the code A/RES/68/192 to prevent and reduce sexual exploitation and sex trafficking.

About Sexual exploitation

Gender equality is a fundamental human right and a necessary foundation for a peaceful, prosperous and sustainable future, which means a world where women and men, girls and boys all enjoy equal rights, resources, opportunities, and protections, but gender bias makes it impossible.

Many women face gender inequality in their workplaces, and some women have to face domestic violence and abuse.

Sexual exploitation or sexual harassment are commonly used terms in society. Not just girls/women, boys/men are also victims of sexual exploitation. Measures need to be taken to prevent sexual molestation, harassment, and abuse in society.

In order to properly observe World Day of the Fight Against Sexual Exploitation, we must know about the forms of sexual exploitation and harassment.

World Day of the Fight Against Sexual Exploitation Significance

According to the International Labour Organisation (ILO) research, millions of humans are trafficked every year for sexual exploitation. 98% of this population is young girls.

The rate of these sex crimes is increasing rapidly daily. It is an important matter of concern, and the government must take strict rules and actions against the criminal. It becomes challenging for the victim to handle this kind of trauma, especially when they do not have any outside help because the topic is generally considered taboo.

World Day of the Fight Against Sexual Exploitation is observed every year to raise awareness. Sexual abuse is not an issue that is talked about openly, and it often goes unnoticed and unmentioned. Observing this day ensures that the issue is brought to the forefront and people are sensitised.
