The Pradhan Mantri Innovative Learning Programme DHRUV came into existence to help the students who have some innate talents to recognise their potential and then make relevant contributions to society.

The unique thing about the Pradhan Mantri Innovative Learning Programme Dhruv is that it is named after the Pole Star, called 'Dhruva' in Hindi. The students selected under this programme will be referred to as the 'Dhruva Tara'. The name's relevance comes from the fact that these students will become guiding stars for all the other students, and their achievements will glorify the country.

Pradhan Mantri Innovative Learning Programme DHRUV - Overview

The Pradhan Mantri Innovative Learning Programme Dhruv will select students from two primary areas:

  • Science
  • Performing Arts

About 60 students will be selected under this programme from different parts of the country, and these students will be studying in class from 9th to 12th. Both Government and private schools will be a part of the Pradhan Mantri Innovative Learning Programme Dhruv programme.

The entire scheme has been brought into existence by the Government of India with the help of the Human Resource Development Ministry.

The DHRUV will serve as a platform for showcasing the talent of outstanding and deserving students and assisting them in achieving success in their chosen fields, such as science, the performing arts, creative writing, and other fields.
These gifted children are expected to make significant contributions to society in addition to reaching their full potential. Students who will be called Dhruv Tara will serve as role models for millions of children across India.

There are several specific features of the Pradhan Mantri Innovative Learning Programme Dhruv programme. Some of these features are listed below:

  • The Pradhan Mantri Innovative Learning Program Dhruv ran its pilot in October 2019, with the first lot of the selected students
  • Sixty outstanding students from around the country got a chance to participate in the program. 30 students out of these 60 were from performing arts and the remaining 30 from science
  • These students were selected irrespective of whether they belonged to public or private schools.

Pradhan Mantri Innovative Learning Programme DHRUV - Inclusions of the Course

  • The students were divided into two groups, and a comprehensive curriculum was designed for them for 14 days.
  • After the delivery of the curriculum, they were further divided into groups of 10
  • Every student had access to some of the best industry experts and mentors, and at the end of the course, the science students had to submit an assigned project, and the students from performing arts had to curate a performance which could be a dance or drama.
  • The primary focus of these final submissions and performances was on environmental and social issues.

Students will gain confidence from the Pradhan Mantri Innovative Learning Programme Dhruv programme. They will be able to obtain and share awareness and understanding of the activities worldwide.

The Government of India began this programme by focusing on just two critical industries. Still, they plan to expand it to include a variety of other streams and sectors to foster innovative development and create opportunities for children across the country.
