100 Years of Chrysostom Full Movie - Overview

The documentary features Mar Chrysostom's one-on-one interviews with 100 celebrities and ten notable cartoonists. It is an excellent combination of art, music, and history thanks to Mohanlal's voice-over, music by M. Jayachandran, Stephen Devassy, photography by Satheesh Kurup, and a storyline by Blessy. Blessy expertly interlaced real-life photos and recollections of Mar Chrysostom in the documentary.

Manmohan Singh (former Prime Minister), Pranab Mukherjee (former President), Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Vice President M. Venkaiah Naidu, Arvind Kejriwal (Chief Minister of Delhi), Najma Heptullah, Sitaram Yechury, Prakash Karat, K.J. Yesudas, K.S.Chitra, Mohanlal, Mammootty, and Suresh Gopi are some of the few personalities with whom the protagonist had mention-worthy interactions for a significant part of the film.

The film was produced by Visual Romance, Blessy's own production company.

The Challenges

The filmmaker met Philipose Mar Chrysostom in 2005 but decided to make the docu-film, "Thirumeni" (meaning a spiritual leader in Malayalam) after a decade. The 98-year-old church elder had to travel to many locations from Delhi to Kanyakumari for filming purposes.

The director's primary concern during the start of filming was the health of Thirumeni. During the film's shooting, Reverend Chrysostom fell ill and needed hospitalisation. Instead of getting better, the Reverend was more concerned about rescheduling, inconvenience to the crew, and interruptions in the shooting.

Guinness World Record

The 100 Years of Chrysostom documentary was inducted into the Guinness Book of World Records as the world's longest docu-film at 48 hours and 10 minutes.

Philipose Mar Chrysostom led a spiritual existence for the entirety of the 100 years of his life and enlightened everyone regardless of caste or creed. The depiction of his life path, experiences, and recollections is seen in 100 Years of Chrysostom as a memoir to Thirumeni.
