CAT 2017 Aspirants look for tips and tricks everywhere. Today we shall look at some of the CAT Model Questions and look at some of the better methods to solve the same.
This post aims to do:
- Provide you three staple CAT Type questions: this would help you if you are XAT, SNAP, TISSNET or MAT Aspirant as well
- Provide you an idea of Quant Questions (mainly but there shall be some in LR-DI as well) as it was the toughest section of CAT 2016
Puzzle 1
There's a lot of work in preparing a birthday dinner. Even after the turkey s in the oven, there's still the potatoes and gravy, salad, and cranberries, not to mention setting the table.
Three friends, Asit, Arnold, and Afzal work together to get all of these chores done, The time it takes them to do the work together is six hours less than Asit would have taken working alone, one hour less than Arnold would have taken alone, and half the time Afzal would have taken working alone.
How long did it take them to do these chores working together?

Puzzle 2
A red light flashes 3 times per minute and a green light flashes 5 times in two minutes at regular intervals. If both lights start flashing at the same time, how many times do they flash together in each hour?

c. 20

Puzzle 3
A water tank has three taps A, B, and C. A fills four buckets in 24 mins, B fills 8 buckets in 1 hour and C fills 2 buckets in 20 minutes. If all the taps are opened together a full tank is emptied in 2 hours. If a bucket can hold 5 litres of water, what is the capacity of the tank in litres?
a. 200l
b. 220l
c. 240l
d. 250l
