CAT 2017 Students are trying hard to crack the Verbal Section. Reading Comprehension always presents a challenge. How do you tackle this though? How do you make this section easier? Most importantly, where do you start?
We have a really simple answer for this. It is so simple that you would kick yourself for not thinking about it earlier. No, we are not talking about reading Saman Rushdie. And no, we are not asking you to watch BBC or even CNN-IBN. (Stay off the visual news and stick to editorials though)
So what are we talking about?
What is that? Something to do with Cricket? Right, go on...
You say Harsha Bhogle? You're on the right track...
Cricket commentary? Bang On!
Transcripts? Nailed it!
Yes, we are recommending you to listen to cricket commentary, preferably of the 90s as their English was impeccable. Those of Tony Greig, Ian Botham, Mike Atherton and Harsha Bhogle to start with. You could then move on to newer avenues.
Javagal Srinath: Some Wonderful Spells
Here's what you do:
1. Listen to the commentary and write down the transcripts (in the comment section if you'd like that)
2. Compare notes and see where you have gone wrong
3. Mark all the words you didn't understand and note down the meaning
4. Repeat the above 3 steps for the 3 videos
5. Move beyond the 3 videos and start the exercise with new ones.
All the Best,
Team Gradeup.
