How is WBCS Cutoff Calculated?

The WBCS Cutoff is calculated on the basis of various parameters such as the difficulty level of the exam, average performance of aspirants, vacancy, and more. After the WBCS prelims, the selected candidates are, on average, 10 to 12 times the vacancies. This limit affects the total cutoff.  For example, if there are 300 vacancies in WBCS, then 3000 candidates will be selected to write mains. If there are 3000 candidates who get 105 marks or above, then the cut-off will be 105.

Types & Stages of WBPSC Cutoff

There are three stages at which WBCS cut off is calculated i.e. Prelims stage, Mains stage, and Final cutoff after the interview process. At the Mains stage, prelims marks are not considered. The final cut-off is based on combined marks of mains and interviews.

Minimum qualifying marks at each stage

The maximum marks in the WBCS prelims exam are 200 because there is only one question paper of 200 marks. For this paper, cut-off marks are calculated. In the Mains paper, a minimum of 33% marks is required in all GS papers, if fallen below process ends there.
