The Indian Institute of Management Tiruchirappalli is the 11th IIM and was established on 4th January 2011. IIM Tiruchirappalli has been placed 17th in the category of 'Management Institutions' in the NIRF 2021 rankings.

The admission process of IIM Tiruchirappalli takes into the consideration the candidate’s performance in CAT, performance in Personal Interview (PI), Educational Background, Gender Diversity and the quality of Work Experience of the candidates.

Due to the COVID-19 outbreak, the Written Ability Test (WAT) Process is excluded from the CAP 2022 Process. Besides, the PI would be conducted through online mode. The exact date for PI will be announced by the IIM Tiruchirappalli, coordinating Institute for CAP 2022-24 batch, on behalf of all participating nine IIMs.

130 companies participated in the placement process of 2019-21 offering roles across various domains of Sales & Marketing, Finance, General Management, Strategy, Consulting, Operations, and HR. The average CTC recorded at ₹14.85L with ₹ 30L as the highest CTC.

Before that, IIM Tiruchirappalli operated from a temporary campus.

Admissions are provided in DPM based on entrance exams that include CAT, GMAT, GATE, GRE, UGC-JRF, followed by a domain-specific interview and PI with DPM Committee.

During the IIM Tiruchirappalli placement drive of 2022, the sales and marketing domain secured the highest CTC, while the maximum number of students got placed in the Consulting and Analytics sector.
