Eventually, in the following years, several more districts were carved out of the existing Chhattisgarh districts. The newest district of Khairagarh-Chhuikhadan-Gandai was added to the state in 2022.

• When Chhattisgarh was formed on 1 November 2000, there were only 16 districts in the state.
• On 11 May 2007, the districts of Bijapur and Narayanpur were carved out.
• On 1 Jan 2012, nine new districts of Chhattisgarh were formed.
• On 10 February 2020, the district of Gaurela-Pendra-Marwahi was established.
• In September 2022, five new Chhattisgarh districts were established, namely, Manpur-Mohla, Sarangarh-Bilaigarh and Manendragarh and Sakti.
• The latest district of Khairagarh-Chhuikhadan-Gandai was added on 3 September 2022.
