There are 38 districts in Bihar in total, divided into 9 divisions for better administrative control. These districts are each headed by a District Magistrate (DM). Several other administrative officers assist the DM to look after the law and order situation in the districts. Each district in Bihar is divided further into subdivisions and Community Development blocks.
