Strategy to Crack CTET Exam in last 10 days

CBSE has released the notification for the upcoming Central teacher recruitment test (CTET) in the month of July 2016, the exam is scheduled to be conducted on 18th September 2016. As per the notification, now almost 10 days left for the exam. This is the crucial time to plan your strategy for the upcoming CTET exam.  With the help of this article, you can plan your strategy which will help you to ensure your success.

First of all, it’s evident to ensure the exam pattern of CTET. The Paper 1 is of 150 questions from 5 parts namely Child Development & Pedagogy, EVS, Math and two sections will be from Language 1 and Language 2. Generally, Language 1 and Language 2 is English and Hindi. Paper 1 is conducted for those who want to teach students from Class I to V while Paper 2 is conducted for those who want to teach students from Class VI to VIII.

 Important Instruction of the Exam

CTET is an offline exam (pen and paper) that is conducted over 150 minutes. There is no negative marking but candidates should not attempt the questions in a hurry as they might lose out on marks this way. There are total 5 sections in the exam and each question will get you 1 mark. Try and solve the questions that you know for sure first, so that you increase your confidence and secure some marks easily. If you don’t know an answer, use the elimination method to eliminate the incorrect answers and you will be closer to finding the correct answer.

CTET Paper 2Section – wise Strategy:

Child Development & Pedagogy (CD&P):-

This subject is common in both Paper 1 and Paper 2. You have to solve 30 multiple choice questions. This subject intends to check the knowledge of child psychology of a candidate. You should revise the important topic development stages of the child, special needs of a child and the most important is to revise the thinker and thoughts. Every year, generally 5-8 questions asked from thinkers and thoughts.

Distribution of questions

(i) Child Development (Primary School Child) :  —-> 15 Questions

(ii) Concept of Inclusive education: —> 5 Questions

(iii) Learning and Pedagogy: —-> 10 Questions

How you can prepare for Child development & Pedagogy section – All you need to plan a daily schedule to practice all the different topics of this section. Please try to wake up early in the morning at 5 am. 

Practice 3 sets of Child development & Pedagogy section on a daily basis. After practicing, analyze your score & mistakes which you have made during the practice.  This exercise will give you an idea how to approach these topics in exams.

Hindi Language

This subject is common in both Paper 1 and Paper 2. You have to solve 30 multiple choice questions. In Hindi section, there will be one Reading Comprehension, language pedagogy, and grammar.

Distribution of questions

(i) Reading comprehension :—-> 10 questions

(ii) Reading poem :—-> 5 to 10 questions

(iii) Pedagogy questions :—-> 10 to15 questions

How you can prepare for Hindi section – You need to plan a daily schedule to practice all the different topics of this section. After completing Child development & Pedagogy section you can move to Hindi Section & try to practice for at least 2 hours a day. 

English Language

This subject is common in both Paper 1 and Paper 2. You have to solve 30 multiple choice questions. In this section, 15 questions will be from one Reading Comprehension and one Poem passage. Other questions are asked from English language and grammar. The best reference to prepare English section is to read NCERT from Class 1st to 10th. Make your vocabulary strong; learn 10 new English words daily.

Distribution of questions

(i) Reading comprehension :—-> 10 questions

(ii) Reading poem :—-> 5 to 10 questions

(iii) Pedagogy questions :—-> 10 to15 questions

Environmental Section Strategy: - 

This subject is asked in CTET exam only and this is very important because it is very scoring subject.

Distribution of questions

(i) Environment basics :—-> 8 to 10 questions

(ii) Water & Food :—-> 3 to 6 questions

(iii) Family & Friends :—-> 5 to 6 questions

(iv) Travels:—-> 5 to 6 questions

(v) Miscellaneous :—->6 to 8  questions

How you can prepare for EVS section – You need to plan a daily schedule to practice all the different topics of this section. Try to practice for at least 2 hours a day. 

Mathematics:- 

This subject is common in both Paper 1 and Paper 2. You have to solve 30 multiple choice questions.

(B) Pedagogy of mathematics:- (6 to 8) question

How you can prepare for Social Science section – You need to plan a daily schedule to practice all the different topics of this section. After completing Reasoning section in the evening, you can move to English Section & try to practice for at least 2 hours a day. 

Social science section Strategy: - 

This subject is asked in CTET exam only and this is very important because it is very scoring subject.

Distribution of questions

(i) Social science & Polity :-----> 12 to 14 questions

 (ii) Geography :—-> 8 to 10 questions

(iii) Current affairs :—-> 5 to 6 questions

(iv) History:—-> 12 to 15 questions

(v) Miscellaneous :—-> 6 to 8  questions

How you can prepare for Social science section – You need to plan a daily schedule to practice all the different topics of this section. Try to practice for at least 2 hours a day. 

Tips on how to prepare for CTET Exam

Revise the important topic – Now you should focus on the topics you have already prepared. Pick up the subjects that you are most comfortable with, and revise it. We suggest you not to learn everything from scratch now. It will just add to your frustration and reduce your confident.

Focus on Pedagogical subjects – Pedagogy will be your trump card in ensuring your success. CDP and required pedagogy of various subjects, together comprises of 60% of questions for Paper- 1 and 53% of the questions for Paper 2.Therefore, if you prepare the pedagogy part well, and answer the questions with around 80% accuracy, then you will easily corner good number of questions in both paper.

Plan your test taking strategy – You should have your test taking strategy ready before the exam. It will help you in ensuring your success. With your tests, you will be able to know your strengths and weakness. This will save your time by not attempting the questions, you are not comfortable with. Hence, you will be able to focus more on your strengthen areas and avoid weak areas.

Give more mock tests – Give more of mock tests, find out the sections you are most comfortable with, types of questions and then try solving them in mock tests. It will help you to estimate the time and effort that you have to put in each subjects.
