The Confederation of Indian Industry of Kerela organises the Global Ayurveda Summit in association with the Ministry of Ayush (Ayurveda, Yoga, and Naturopathy, Unani, Siddha, and Homeopathy) along with the support of the Ayurveda Medical Association of India and Ayurvedic Medicine Manufacturers Organization in India and Ayurveda Hospital Management Association.

The headquarter of the Confederation of Indian Industry is located in New Delhi. Global Ayurveda Summit also receives support from the National Ayurvedic Medical Association (NAMA) in the United States (US), the Association of Swiss Ayurveda Doctors and Therapists in Switzerland, Association for Ayurvedic Medicine in the Netherlands. Global Ayurveda Summit is an international event that started in the year 2010.

Global Ayurveda Summit - Overview

The Fourth Global Ayurveda Summit was held on the 15th of September 2020. Vice-President Muppavarapu Venkaiah Naidu virtually inaugurated the summit, and the theme was "Emerging Opportunities for Ayurveda during Pandemic". The summit's international exhibition lasted till the 14th of October 2020. There was an 8- day international conference along with focussed business-to-business meetings. It was more than 25 countries participated in the summit.

The countries have expressed their willingness to be a part of the summit to understand its immunity power. In this connection, it is also important to mention that the third Global Ayurveda Summit was held in 2019 in Kochi, with 400 industry leaders and delegates from GCC, SAARC, and African countries participating in it. Kerala Governor Arif Mohammed Khan inaugurated it.

Important Facts about Fourth Global Ayurveda Festival

The Fourth Global Ayurveda Festival was to be held in Kochi, starting from 16th to 20th May 2020. But as an effect of the Covid-19 Pandemic, it got postponed. The festival's fourth edition was finally held in five venues virtually from the 12th of March to the 19th of March 2021. This festival was organised by the Centre of Innovation in Science and Social Action.

The festival's theme was Ayurveda Medical Tourism: Actualising India's credibility. Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the festival. The primary purpose of the Global Ayurveda Festival, the largest ayurvedic event in the whole world, is to popularise Ayurveda and other traditional forms of medicine. The first Global Ayurveda festival was held in Thiruvananthapuram and was inaugurated by Union Minister Vylar Ravi.

Global Ayurveda Summit – Purpose or Goal

As has been said by S Sajikumar, the Chairman of CII and MD of Dhatri Ayurveda Pvt Ltd., the global Ayurveda market is expected to grow from $3428 million in 2015 to $9791 million in 2022. Tourism has received immense benefits from Ayurveda. He further stated, "It is time to position India as a global Ayurveda hub since the field is witnessing a resurgence in India and the world,".

Thus, it can be said that the Global Ayurveda Summit and also the Global Ayurveda festival are the organised efforts on the part of the Indian Government to make the world realise the immense health benefits of Ayurveda and establish it as a brand. The ultimate aim of the Global Ayurveda Summit is to establish India as the global destination for sourcing ayurvedic-based products and promote India as the centre for ayurvedic services.
