In simple terms, Army Aviation Corps is an essential air force unit that uses helicopters for reconnaissance to particular areas for better operations.

Army Aviation Corps Formation and History

On November 1st, 1986, the Army Aviation Corps was formed as an element of the Indian Army to provide airborne assistance for guidance to the battlefield and other significant areas. With the rank of Lt General, the Director-General headed the Army Aviation Corps at the Army headquarters in New Delhi.

Meanwhile, in 1984, during the Siachen Glacier conflict, the Northern Command of the Indian Army recruited HAL Cheetah; later, the Air Observation Post of the Indian Army handed over the air force units to the Indian Army to form its Army Aviation Corps. Army Aviation Corps Training

Like every other army rank, AAC also requires functional training and qualifications. Thus all the candidates need to get training from CATS (Combat Army Aviation Training School) at Nashik.

The training was earlier directed in the Artillery School at Deolali. But currently, training is also executed at Deolali in an independent CATS. The Army Aviation Corps currently brings its officers and men from all the components of the Army, along with artillery.

To reduce the substantial costs and pilot risk during training, the authority installed a Cheetah helicopter simulation at Combat Army Aviation Training School. The training simulator is well-developed and designed to train the candidate in various weather conditions such as rain, storm, snow, multiple terrains, night flying training, tactical handling, and handling emergencies of the flying machine.

With the different challenging training tests and hurdles, trainees can fly the aviation under any circumstances and guide to the battlefield and natural disaster areas.

The Army Aviation Corps, a component of the Indian Army, is a basic unit that provides reconnaissance and surveillance during difficult times. AAC plays a vital role in planning and effective battle strategies, data, and intelligence by gathering information from a particular area. However, with the Swift and Sure motto, the Indian Army's youngest Corps is ready to further rise in its strategic significance in the battleground.
