1. Ans. D. The Good test can be tried out and selected on the basis of its difficulty level and discriminating power. Directly related to the educational objectives. It should possess the description of measure behaviour in realistic and practical terms. It contains a sufficient number of test items for each measured behavior; concerned with important and useful matter; comprehensive, brief, precise and clear. It should be divided into different knowledge and skills according to the behavior to be measured. Rules and norms have to be developed so that various age groups can use at various levels. It provides equivalent and comparable forms of the test.

2. Ans. A. Viva-voce are a type of oral test involving face-to-face examinations interactions. It is a type of exam in which students are expected to give verbal and immediate responses.

3. Ans. A. The deductive method of teaching grammar is an approach that focuses on instruction before practice.

4. Ans. C. From asthma attacks to major incidents, teaching your students how to respond to emergencies is important. Teachers are usually the ones who provide first aids to students in case of emergencies which happen in school.

5. Ans. D. The Innateness theory by Noam Chomsky and Social Interactionist Theory by Lev Vygotsky are both related to language acquisition theory. The innateness theory suggests that language acquisition is an innate process and all humans naturally have the tendency to learn language, whereas social interactionist theory says that language acquisition occurs through social interaction and is dependent upon the outside environment. Universal Grammar Theory is also by Noam Chomsky but related to Language Learning.

6. Ans. C. In the society it comes naturally, but we can’t mark any moment or day when we started speaking or understanding a language. Language acquisition is a complex procedure. It occurs passively and unconsciously through implicit learning. It is the social approach, that the surrounding and the environment automatically contribute to the language learning of the child.

7. Ans. A. The correct answer is option A, i.e., ‘natural method’. This approach developed by Tracy Terrell focuses on similarities between L1 and L2, where the learners are exposed to meaningful language but are not forced to produce it. The focus is comprehension and not production thus developing basic communication. The method does not emphasize on conscious grammar learning and explicit error correction of students. It believes in naturalistic language acquisition in a communicative environment.

8. Ans. C. The correct answer is option B, i.e., ‘Audio-Lingual Method’. Audio-lingual method is also known as Army method. It is based on linguistic Principle and behavioral psychology (habit formation). Language learning is done through drills and pattern repetition of grammar in target language. It ignores the importance of context and knowledge in language learning.

9. Ans. D. The correct answer is option D, i.e., only A and D. In contextual grammar, the context of communication or the environment teaches the learners the grammar of the language. For example, a native speaker learn to speak correctly from whatever she hears from her environment, even without acknowledging any rules. Use of authentic films, songs, articles, books, etc., will help contextualize grammar. This will present grammar as a part of communicative language and not a separate subject to learn.

10. Ans. B. The correct answer is option B. Perspective grammar is a set a rules which teaches the correct way of language production in accordance to people’s thinking. This is also called normative grammar or perspectivism. Here, a language can be correct or incorrect. Perspective and descriptive grammar are contrasting to each other and currently, descriptive grammar is said to be popular among theorists. Most theorists think perspective grammar to be judgmental which tries to change or align the way of speaking and writing a language along a particular direction.

We wish all the candidates Best of Luck for the exam.
