Now we have to assume that the ball is moving in a forward direction then,

  • Initial velocity u = 6 m/s
  • Time was taken during change of velocity = 0.04 s
  • Final velocity v = 4.4 m/s = -4.4 m/s

We know that:

Acceleration = (v-u)/t = change in velocity/time

In simplification we get the:

a = ( -4.4 -6)/ 0.04

= -10.4/0.04

= -1040/4

In simplification we get the:

a = -260 m/s²
