How cut off is calculated?
In the prelims, generally candidates are selected 10 to 12 times of the vacancies. In order to prepare a cut off a limit is set for required candidates above which all are selected. For example: There are 300 vacancies in WBCS, then 3000 candidates will be selected to write mains. If there is 3000 candidates who get 105 marks or above, then cut off will be 105.
Types & Stages of WBPSC Cutoff
There is three stages at which cut off is calculated i.e. prelims stage, mains stage and final cut off. At the mains stage cut off prelims numbers is not considered. final cut off is based on combined numbers of mains and interview.
Minimum qualifying marks at each stage
The maximum marks in the WBCS prelims exam are 200 because there is only one question paper of 200 marks. For this paper cut off marks is calculated. In mains paper minimum 33% marks is required in all GS papers, if fallen below process ends there.
