The Kerala PSC hires Secretariat Assistants for typing and data entry profiles. So, Secretariat Assistants are responsible for overseeing files and registers and their movements, and for keeping track of other such records, as per the guidelines laid down by the Commission.

Kerala PSC Secretariat Assistant Salary

The basic pay for a Secretariat Assistant in the Kerala Public Service Commission ranges from Rs. 27,800 to Rs. 59,400. Besides this, Assistants are eligible for other perks and benefits, such as Dearness Allowance (DA), Travel Allowance (TA), and more. Also, those candidates hired afresh will get a joining bonus of Rs. 35,000.

Salaries for Other Posts in the Kerala PSC

There are several other posts in the Kerala PSC besides Secretariat Assistant. Other such popular posts include Stenographers, Clerks, Computer Operators, and Typists, and the salaries for each of them vary depending on the grade and prevailing payscale.

For instance, while Clerks in the Kerala PSC may get up to Rs. 30,000 a month, Stenographers may get only up to Rs. 15,000. Similarly, a Computer Operator may get up to Rs. 13,000 a month, while Typists may get only up to Rs. 12,000.

Besides this, the Kerala Public Service Commission also hires other posts like University Engineers, Programmers, Professional Assistants, and Electricians. All these posts have varying pay scales that may be subject to revision by the Commission.

As per the recent notification for these positions, the salary for a University Engineer ranges from Rs. 67,700 to Rs. 1,10,400, and that of a Programmer ranges from Rs. 39,500 to Rs. 83,000. Likewise, the payscale of a Professional Assistant in the Kerala PSC is in the range of Rs. 27,800 to Rs. 59,400, while that of an Electrician falls in the range of Rs. 18,000 to Rs. 41,000.

The salaries of different professionals such as Clerks and Stenographers in the Kerala Public Service Commission consists of three major components:

• Dearness Allowance (DA): The Dearness Allowance (DA) component varies according to the Consumer Price Index (CPI), and as such, increases in proportion with the CPI. However, the DA component is the same for all three regions, including Class X, Class Y, and Class Z.

• House Rent and Transport Allowances: The House Rent Allowance (HRA) and Transport Allowance (TA) vary according to the different regional classes, X, Y, and Z. Class X constitutes the major metropolitan cities of Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkata, Chennai, Bengaluru, Pune, and Ahmedabad. These cities are classified as Class X as they have a population of more than 50 lakhs.

Those cities that come under Class Y are mostly towns having a population between 5 and 50 lakhs. There are about 100 such cities in India. Similarly, Class Z comprises the rural parts of the country where the population is below five lakhs.

Since Kerala mostly has no metropolitan city that falls under Class X, the HRA paid will be according to Classes Y or Z.
