GATE Instrumentation 2022

IIT Kharagpur had released the GATE Instrumentation 2022 Notification on July 31 2021. GATE 2022 is going to take place on February 5-6 and 12-14, 2022. IIT Kharagpur will roll out the GATE 2022 Application Form on August 30, 2021. Only eligible candidates can fill the application form till September 24, 2021 (without any late fee). There has been an addition of two new papers to the list of GATE 2022 papers- Naval Architecture & Marine Engineering (NM) and Geomatics Engineering (GE). GATE 2022. What is the GATE IN 2022 exam?

GATE IN 2022 is an All India level test conducted by IISc Banglore and seven IITs (at Bombay, Delhi, Guwahati, Kanpur, Kharagpur, Madras and Roorkee) on behalf of NCB-GATE for admission to postgraduate engineering (ME/ M.Tech) or research courses at top colleges in India as well as for PSU recruitment (at BHEL, GAIL, HAL, IOCL, NTPC, ONGC, PGCI, etc.).

Changes in GATE 2022

There have been some changes that have been introduced in the GATE 2022 exam. The following are:

  • Two new papers have been added to the list of GATE 2022 papers namely: Naval Architecture & Marine Engineering (NM) and Geomatics Engineering (GE) as the two new papers.
  • GATE 2022 Eligibility Criteria has been broadened by allowing BDS and M.Pharma degree candidates to apply for the GATE exam.
  • The number of GATE examination Centres has been increased due to Covid-19 conditions.
  • GATE 2022 Exam Pattern for Architecture and Planning has been changed. The paper will consist of two sections- General Aptitude (for 15 marks) and Core Subject further divided into Part A (for 60 marks mandatory for everyone) and Part B (for 25 marks with two optional sections as Part B1 and Part B2.
  • The Two-Paper Combination (allowing candidates to appear for a second GATE paper) has been revised which now provides more options to choose from.

What to Expect from GATE IN 2022?

  • The questions in the exam were a majorly numerical type
  • The analytical approach must be required to solve the question paper with an in-depth knowledge of concepts. 
  • Work on your calculations and speed as questions can be time-consuming
  • MSQs in GATE 2022 is expected to marginally increase similar to the pattern when NATs were initially introduced.

  • Linear Algebra: Matrix algebra, systems of linear equations, consistency and rank, Eigen values and Eigen vectors. 
  • Calculus: Mean value theorems, theorems of integral calculus, partial derivatives, maxima and minima, multiple integrals, Fourier series, vector identities, line, surface and volume integrals, Stokes, Gauss and Green’s theorems. 
  • Differential equations: First order equation (linear and nonlinear), second order linear differential equations with constant coefficients, method of variation of parameters, Cauchy’s and Euler’s equations, initial and boundary value problems, solution of partial differential equations: variable separable method.
