Industry Solstice Talks Held in Stockholm
Why in News:
- India and Sweden hosted the Industry Solstice Dialogue in Stockholm as a part of their joint initiative Leadership for Industry Transition (Lead IT).
key points:
- The Leadership for Industry Transition initiative focuses on areas that are key stakeholders in global climate action and require specific interventions. The agenda for COP27 has been set during the Industry Solstice Dialogue in Stockholm.
- Japan and South Africa also joined the Leadership for Industry Transition initiative this year as new members, taking the total membership of the Leadership for Industry Transition initiative to 37 countries and companies combined.
- During the event, India also chaired the Roundtable on Priorities for Implementation for 2022-23, with all speakers emphasizing on the need to accelerate climate action.

Organizing a short-term training course to hone academic publishing skills
Why in News:
- Career Research Internship Program on "Promotion of Academic Publishing Skills through a Short-Term Training Course" organized by CSIR- Research Journal Division of National Institute of Science Communication and Policy Research (NISPAR) during the period 1st June to 30th June 2022.
key points:
- This internship is sponsored by the Science and Engineering Research Board (SERB) under the Department of Science and Technology (DST), Government of India under the Accelerated Vigyan Vrittika Scheme.
- The main objective of this internship program is to provide participants with the opportunity to learn about scholarly and popular science writings.
- This research internship program was attended by 5 participants of both PG and PhD courses from different universities and colleges through offline mode.
- Under this internship program, participants will have the necessary knowledge on converting research data into indexed publications, exposure to processing from research manuscripts preparation to publication, knowledge of techniques related to copy editing, writing research papers and literature summaries and fostering a strong interest in scientific and engineering research as well as providing technical insight into this area.

- The 75 Entrepreneurs' Conference and 75 Indigenous Livestock Breeds Exhibition Program, organized by the Union Minister for Fisheries, Animal Husbandry and Dairying, Shri Purushottam Rupala, was inaugurated in New Delhi.

- The conference has been organized by the Ministry of Fisheries, Animal Husbandry and Dairying under Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav.
- The conference focused on three technical thematic sessions - "Increasing Productivity and Improving Animal Health, Value Addition and Market Relations and Innovation and Technology".
- The main objective of this conference is to increase the income of the farmers, although at present the growth rate in the animal husbandry sector is eight per cent.
- The aim of the conference is to specifically deliberate on dairy and poultry farmers, innovative entrepreneurs, startups and industry.
- Excellence Awards were also presented to the winners of the 2nd Start-up Grand Challenge by the Union Minister for Fisheries, Animal Husbandry and Dairying, Shri Purushottam Rupala during the conference.

India's GDP growth
Why in News:
- India's gross domestic product (GDP) growth during the January-March period is at a four-quarter low of 4.1%.
key points:
- India's Gross Domestic Product (GDP) growth during the January-March period stood at 4.1% as against 5.4% in the previous quarter.
- Full-year GDP growth at 8.7% as per current figures
- This is lower than the 8.9% growth projected in February.
- The Gross Value Added (GVA) to the economy is projected to be at 8.1% for the year 2021-22, slightly lower than the 8.3% projected by the National Statistical Office (NSO).
- Services related to connectivity-dependent and employment-intensive trade, hotels, transport, communication and broadcasting sector are below pre-pandemic levels, still 11.3% lower than GVA levels for the year 2019-20.

Why in News:
- The Union Cabinet has approved a proposal to allow cooperative societies to sell products on the Government-e-Marketplace (GeM) platform.
key points:
- The purpose of the consent given by the Union Cabinet is to benefit 27 crore people associated with 8.5 lakh cooperative societies.
- With the help of Government-a-Marketplace, micro and medium small-scale industries will get buyers and it will also help in promoting the potential of "Vocal for Local" and self-reliant India.
- Government-a-Marketplace (GeM) was launched in 2017, GeM is a one-stop portal to facilitate the online purchase of commonly used goods and services.

ISSF World Cup held in Baku, Azerbaijan
- India's team of Elavenil Valarivan, Ramita and Shreya Agarwal won the gold medal in the 10m air rifle event at the Shooting World Cup in Baku, Azerbaijan.
- This is India's first medal in the ISSF World Cup held in Baku.
- Led by a stellar performance from Tokyo Olympian Elavenil Valarivan, India defeated Denmark 17-5 in the gold medal match to clinch the gold medal.
- However, at the ISSF World Cup held in Baku, Azerbaijan, the men's 10m air rifle team suffered a 16-10 loss to Croatia in the bronze medal match.
- The ISSF World Cup in Baku will conclude on June 6 while the rifle event will conclude on June 4.
