Tribal Contribution to Freedom Struggle
Why in News:
- Sworn in as the 15th President of India by Draupadi Murmu, Draupadi Murmu is the country's first tribal Indian President, and during the oath ceremony, Draupadi Murmu reiterated the tribal contribution to the freedom struggle.
key points:
- Addressing the nation after taking the oath, Draupadi Murmu called for four tribal revolutions, about which she said that the tribal contribution to the freedom struggle is commendable.
- The tribal revolutions called by Draupadi Murmu in her address include-
- Santhal Revolution: On June 30, 1855, over 10,000 Santhals were inspired to revolt against the East India Company over harassment by revenue officials, landlords, and corrupt moneylenders by their leaders - Kanho Murmu, Chand Murmu, Bhairab Murmu, and Sidho Murmu did.
- Paika Rebellion: The Paika Rebellion of 1817 in Khurda, Odisha is known as the "original" First War of Indian Independence.
- Kol Rebellion: The Kol, the tribal community of the Chota Nagpur region, contributed significantly to the revolt against the British in the year 1831.
- Bhil Rebellion: After the British incursions into the Bhil region of the Khandesh region of Maharashtra, the tribal community was exploited by the Adivasis under the new rule in the year 1818, leading to a rebellion by the tribal community which was led by their leader Sevaram.

Swadesh Darshan Scheme 2.0
Why in News:
- The Swadesh Darshan scheme was implemented with reforms by the Ministry of Tourism (MOT).
key points:
- Swadesh Darshan Scheme was launched by the Ministry of Tourism in the year 2014 with an aim to develop theme-based tourist circuits in the country using 100% central funding and CSR funding.
- The funding of individual projects under the revised Swadesh Darshan Scheme 2.0 will vary from state to state and will be finalized on the basis of the detailed project report prepared by the PMC.
- India's tourism ranks 10th, which contributes 6.8% to India's GDP and 8% of the total employment created through tourism.
- Swadesh Darshan Yojana 2.0 will be implemented with the following features-
- Developing sustainable and responsible tourism
- Development of benchmarks and standards
- Promotion of domestic tourism mainly in Tier-II and Tier-III cities
- 100% centrally funded

- India's first International Bullion Exchange also known as Bharat International Bullion will also be launched by the Prime Minister at Gujarat International Finance Tech- International Financial Services Center during the event.

Modhera Sun Temple
Why in News:
- Ahmedabad Railway Station at Kalupur in Ahmedabad city will be developed by Union Home and Cooperation on the theme of Modhera Sun Temple.
key points:
- Modhera Sun Temple is a Hindu temple dedicated to the solar deity Surya, located in Modhera village in the Mehsana district of Gujarat, India.
- Modhera Sun Temple is situated on the banks of river Pushpavati, which was built after 1026-27 CE during the reign of Bhima I of the Chalukya dynasty.
- In front of the Modhera Sun Temple, there is a huge rectangular terraced pond, which is called Surya Kund, and this pond is said to be the grandest temple tank in India.
- Each year, at the time of the equinox, the sun shines directly in this central temple of the temple, currently, the Modhera Sun Temple is a protected monument by the Archaeological Survey of India.
- The Modhera Sun Temple complex comprises three components – the Gudmandapa and Sabhamandapa, the Assembly Hall and Kunda, and the reservoir.
- The exterior of the hall and pillars in the Modhera Sun Temple are finely carved and there are steps to reach the bottom of the reservoir and several smaller temples.

Family Doctor Project launched by the Andhra Pradesh Government
Why in News:
- Andhra Pradesh government has announced to implementation of the “Family Doctor Project” on a pilot scheme basis in Padmanabham Mandal of Visakhapatnam district.
key points:
- The Family Doctor Project project aims to improve health services among the rural population.
- The Family Doctor Project project will be implemented from August 15, 2022.
- Under the Family Doctor Project, a doctor from the Primary Health Center will be made available to take care of the health of the people in the ward and the Gram Sachivalayam.
- Under the Family Doctor Project, before the primary health center, ANM ASHA workers and mid-level health providers will go door-to-door to identify needy people.
- To implement the Family Doctor Project, a training program has been organized by the Health Department officials to train ASHA workers, MLHP, and ANM in Padmanabham Mandal for the employees working in PHC.

Lumpy skin disease
Why in News:
- Lumpy skin disease (LSD) is an infectious disease in cattle caused by a virus of the Poxviridae family, also known as the Neethling virus.
key points:
- Lumpy skin disease was an epidemic in Zambia in 1929 that was initially believed to be the result of hypersensitivity to insect bites.
- It is spread by blood-drinking insects, such as some species of flies and mosquitoes, or through ticks.
- Lumpy skin disease mainly includes fever, discharge of fluid from the eyes and nose, dripping of saliva from the mouth, and blisters on the body.
- The animal suffering from lumpy skin disease stops eating and faces problems while chewing or eating, resulting in reduced milk production.
- The lumpy skin disease virus is able to infect humans with direct transmission without the need for an insect vector.

N-treat technology from IIT-Bombay
Why in News:
- N-treat salt is a new technology developed by IIT-Bombay to help treat Mumbai's sewage.
key points:
- N-Treat technology is a seven-step process for waste treatment using a screen, gate, silt trap, and coconut fiber screen for filtration and disinfection using sodium hypochlorite.
- The first phase of the N-treat technology involves screening to prevent the entry of floating objects such as plastic cups, paper utensils, polythene bags, sanitary napkins, or wood.
- The second phase of the n-treat technique involves the construction of a silt trap, which will help keep sewage clean by creating an inclination and 'parking spot' at the bottom of the drain for sedimentation.
- The next three phases of the N-Treat technology include the establishment of 'biozones' in the form of coconut fiber curtains that will act as filters and promote the growth of biofilms to help in the decomposition of organic matter.
- The final stage of sewage treatment involves disinfection using sodium hypochlorite to kill bacteria in the water with the help of N-treat technology.

- The establishment of a joint theater command of the three services was announced by Defense Minister Rajnath Singh with an aim to enhance coordination among the armed forces.

- This was announced by Defense Minister Rajnath Singh during an event organized by the Jammu and Kashmir People's Forum to pay tribute to the martyrs of the Kargil War of the Indian Armed Forces.
- Presently India is not the world's largest importer but is one of the top 25 countries engaged in defense exports.
- Defense exports to the country have been launched by the government to the tune of Rs 13,000 crore and the target is to increase it from Rs 35,000 to Rs 40,000 crore by the year 2025-26.
- In the year 1999, the armed conflict between India and Pakistan in the Kargil region of Kashmir from May to July is called the Kargil War, also known as Operation Vijay.
