- DefExpo 2022 India-Africa Defense Dialogue was held on 18 October in Gandhinagar, Gujarat.
key points:
- The theme of DefExpo 2022 is 'India-Africa: synergy and adoption of strategies to strengthen defense and security cooperation'.
- India's approach to Africa is guided by the Kampala Principles enunciated by Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi in 2018.
- The Kampala Principles promote the ownership of private sector partnerships (PSEs) through development cooperation by partner countries and ensure the alignment of PSE projects and programs with national sustainable development priorities.
- During this conclave, a joint declaration called 'Lucknow Declaration' was adopted as the outcome document of the conclave.
- India and Africa share close and historical ties, the foundation of defense ties between the two countries is based on two guiding principles namely 'Sagar' (Security and Growth for All in the Region) and 'Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam'.

India Lifted 415 million out of Poverty in 15 Years: UN
Why in News:
- According to the Global Multidimensional Poverty Index 2022, at least 415 million people in India have come out of multidimensional poverty in 15 years.
key points:
- According to the report, Goa has the fastest poverty reduction among states and union territories in India, followed by Jammu and Kashmir, Andhra Pradesh, Chhattisgarh and Rajasthan.
- On the lines of the Global Multidimensional Poverty Index, the publication of India-specific Multidimensional Poverty Index was started by NITI Aayog in the year 2021.
- The India-specific Multidimensional Poverty Index is based on the reference period of the National Family Health Survey (NFHS)-4 for the year 2015-16.
- Multidimensional poverty is a measure of poverty that reflects income or consumption at the international poverty line (according to the World Bank) of US$1.90, as well as lack of access to education and basic infrastructure.
