Union Minister Jitendra Singh unveils India's first saltwater lantern

  • Researchers from the L V Prasad Eye Institute (LVPEI), Indian Institute of Technology-Hyderabad (IIT-H), and the Center for Cellular and Molecular Biology (CCMB) have developed a 3D-printed human cornea manufactured from human donor corneal tissue.
  • The (3D-Printed Human Cornea) product is fully natural, free of synthetic components, and safe for use by patients. It was produced locally with assistance from governmental and charitable groups.
  • Researchers from LVPEI, IITH, and CCMB used the decellularized corneal tissue matrix and stem cells produced from human eyes to create a unique biomimetic hydrogel.
  • The foundation material for the 3D-printed human cornea is this hydrogel.
  • Human corneal tissue was used to create the 3D-printed human cornea, which is biocompatible, all-natural, and free of any animal ingredients.
