Indestructible Brotherhood-2022

Why in News:

• Kyrgyzstan has called off the military exercise called Indestructible Brotherhood-2022 of CSTO, which was to be conducted in the Central Asian country from October 10 to 14.

key points:

• Kyrgyzstan, a former Soviet republic, called off the "Indestructible Brotherhood 2022" command and staff exercise a day before the start of a multinational military exercise on its territory.
• The Indestructible Brotherhood exercise is a joint military exercise involving the collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO) personnel from the 6-member security alliance of Russia, Belarus, Armenia, Kyrgyzstan, Kazakhstan and Tajikistan.
• Non-member states such as Syria, Serbia and Uzbekistan were also invited as observers for the Indestructible Brotherhood military exercise.
• The Indestructible Brotherhood multilateral military exercise was to be held in the Eastern Highlands of Kyrgyzstan.
• Currently, the coalition is focused only on increasing security preparedness for the potential adverse consequences of a US military withdrawal from Afghanistan.
• Currently, about 5,000 troops are deployed by Russia along Tajikistan's border with Afghanistan.
• The Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO) is an intergovernmental military alliance established as an alternative to the US-led North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) headquartered in Moscow.

India & Japan to advance scientific cooperation for Indian Ayurveda

Why in News:

• The All India Institute of Ayurveda (AIIA), the apex institute of Ayurveda in India under the Ministry of AYUSH, and the National Institute of Advanced Industrial Science and Technology (AIST), Japan have signed an MoU for academic establishment. AIST is a reputed and one of the largest public research organizations in Japan, focusing on technologies and on “bridging” the gap between innovative technological seeds and commercialisation.

Key Points:

• This MoU between AIIA & AIST Japan will allow both countries to promote research collaboration and capacity building in the Indian Ayurvedic traditional medicine system. All of these activities will be done to help the Ayush Ministry.

Agni Tattva campaign first seminar under LiFE mission held in Leh

Why in News:

• Power Foundation of India in association with Vijnana Bharati (VIBHA) is currently running a campaign to create awareness on Agni Tattva under LiFE - Lifestyle for environment.

key points:

• The first conference of the Agni campaign was organised in Leh yesterday, on the theme of ‘Sustainability and Culture’. 
• The campaign includes holding conferences, seminars, events and exhibitions in the country involving educational institutions, communities and relevant organizations to create awareness about the basic concept of the Agni Tattva.
• The Agni Tattva is an element that is synonymous with energy and is one of the five elements of the Panchmahabhuta.
• The Agni Tattva campaign - Energy for LiFE, an initiative under the umbrella campaign of Sumangalam, was launched by Shri R K Singh, Union Minister of Power and New & Renewable Energy, in New Delhi on 21st September 2022. 
• Power Foundation of India is a Society formed under the aegis of the Ministry of Power, Government of India, and supported by leading CPSEs.

Tele-MANAS initiative

• The Tele-Manas program was introduced by the government of India on World Mental Health Day (October 10, 2022).

Key Points:

• The Tele Mental Health Assistance and Networking Across States (Tele-Manas) initiative, launched by the Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, is a 24-hour mental health service designed to improve access to mental health care throughout India.
• By offering a national network of counselling, professional consultations, and e-prescriptions, Tele-Manas will seek to increase access to mental health treatment throughout the nation.
• Even the most isolated and inhospitable regions of the nation are to receive mental health services according to the Tele-Manas initiative.
• The national government first introduced the Tele-Manas plan when it unveiled its 2022–2023 budget.

Jharkhand and West Bengal topped in worst state list in terms of child marriage

Why in News:

• According to the latest Demographic Sample Survey by the Union Home Ministry, Jharkhand and West Bengal top the list of worst state in terms of child marriage.

key points:

• The Demographic Sample Survey was conducted by the Office of the Registrar General and Census Commissioner, Ministry of Home Affairs in the year 2020.
• The Sample Registration System (SRS) statistical report contains various demographic, fertility and mortality estimates based on data collected through one of the world's largest demographic surveys, covering a sample population of approximately 8.4 million has gone.
• The percentage of women who married effectively before reaching the age of 18 is 1.9 at the national level, with states ranging from 0.0% in Kerala to 5.8% in Jharkhand.
• According to the report, the percentage of child marriages in Jharkhand is 5.8, in which Jharkhand has 7.3 percent of child marriages in rural areas and three percent in urban areas.
• According to the report, West Bengal also has a substantial number of child marriages. More than half of the women in the state are married before the age of 21.
• About 54.9% of girls in West Bengal are married before the age of 21, as against the national average of around 29.5%.

PM Narendra Modi declared Gujarat’s Modhera as first 24×7 solar-powered village

Why in News:

• On 9 October 2022, Modhera village of Mehsana district has been declared as the country's first solar village by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

key points:

• Modhera village has become the first village in the country to run on 24-hour (24-7) solar power.
• A solar power plant has been set up on the ground under the Clean Energy Project in Modhera village.
• As per the plan, over 1,300 solar panels have been installed on the roofs of all residential and government buildings in Modhera village, which are interconnected through a battery energy conservation system.

PM Narendra Modi to inaugurate 900-metre long 'Mahakal Lok' Corridor in MP’s Ujjain

Why in News:

• The more than 900-metre-long ‘Mahakal Lok’ corridor, built as one of the largest such corridors in the country, spreads around the old Rudrasagar Lake which has also been revived as part of the redevelopment project around the famous Mahakaleshwar Temple.

• The Mahakaleshwar Temple is one of the 12 'jyotirlings' in the country and gets devotees throughout the year. The mega corridor in Ujjain is located around 200 km from the state capital Bhopal.

India's space economy is likely to be worth nearly 13 billion dollars by 2025

Why in News:

• According to the Indian Space Association and Ernst & Young report, India's space economy is expected to be around 13 billion dollars by the year 2025, with the satellite launch services segment seeing the fastest growth due to increased private participation.

key points:

• India's space economy was estimated at 9.6 billion dollars in the year 2020 and is projected to reach 12.8 billion dollars by the year 2025.
• The report titled 'Development of the Space Ecosystem in India: Focusing on Inclusive Growth' has been released by the Indian Space Association and Ernst & Young.
• According to the report, "India's space launch is expected to be boosted due to the government's positive move towards involving private industries in the Indian space ecosystem."
• According to the report, the launch services segment stood at 600 million dollars in 2020 and is projected to grow at a compound annual growth rate of 13 percent to reach 1 billion dollars by 2025.
• There are over 100 space tech start-ups in India with investments in the segment to touch $68 million in the year 2021.
• The Indian Space Research Institute (ISRO) was established in the year 1969, which is a space agency of the Government of India and it headquarter is located in Bangalore.
• ISRO was established for space research by the efforts of the country's first Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru and his close associate and scientist Vikram Sarabhai.

73rd Raising Day of Territorial Army celebrated across country on 9th October

Why in News:

• The 73rd Raising Day of Territorial Army was celebrated across the country on 09 Oct 2022 to commemorate its raising by the first Governor General Shri C Rajagopalachari on this day in 1949.  Lieutenant General Preet Mohindera Singh, Director General of Territorial Army (TA) paid tribute to the fallen heroes of the Territorial Army by laying a wreath at the National War Memorial.

• The celebrations commenced on Friday with tree plantation at Bhatti Mines in Delhi, wherein 10 thousand saplings were planted. The Ecological task forces of Territorial Army have so far planted more than 8.5 Crore trees in various parts of the country.
• The officers, families and Veer Naris of the Territorial Army called on President Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces Droupadi Murmu yesterday. In addition, all ranks and families voluntarily participated in a Blood Donation Camp at 124 Infantry Battallion (Territorial Army) SIKH in Delhi.
• The Territorial Army has a number of Infantry and Engineer units affiliated to various regiments of the Indian Army, apart from ‘Home and Hearth’ battalions based on the concept of ‘Sons of Soil’.
• The Territorial Army also has 10 Ecological Battalions working for restoration of environment in the country by carrying out afforestation in rugged and inhospitable terrain, reviving wetlands, restoring water bodies and contributing to Clean Ganga project.
• Territorial Army Battalions also perform specialist tasks as part of Indian Railways and Oil Sector Public Sector Undertakings PSUs.

• The State Government of Goa has given its in-principal approval to host the National Games in the 37th National Games 2023.

key points:

• The 37th National Games will be decided keeping in mind the dates of the 19th Asian Games to be held in Hangzhou, China from 23 September to 8 October 2022.
• Earlier Goa was offered the opportunity to host the National Games in the year 2008, but due to various reasons, it could not host the Games.
• Earlier the 36th National Games was organized in Gujarat, and after some delay in the year 2018 and the year 2019 due to lack of infrastructure, the games were postponed till the year 2020.
• The Indian Olympic Games were transformed into the National Games in the early 1940s, where athletes from Indian states compete in a range of sports.
• With the intention of promoting the Olympic Games in the country, the National Games in India were first established as the Indian Olympic Games.

• The 37-year-old Portuguese forward has become the first and only player in this current generation to score 700 goals in football history.
