Financing Platform Launched by IFC in response to Global Food Crisis

- The new Global Food Security Platform, which will assist the trading of food commodities, the delivery of inputs to farmers, and effective food production in countries facing food crises, is responsible for providing the majority of the funds.
- The creative project spearheaded by IFC will also emphasize long-term action to strengthen the food ecosystem's resilience and lessen its impact on the environment and the climate.
- Investments in more effective agricultural production, better fertilizer access, cleaner fertilizer manufacture and use, decreased crop loss and food waste, increased supply chain efficiency, and decreased infrastructural bottlenecks are some long-term activities.
- It will make use of IFC's regional expertise in trade finance, manufacturing, infrastructure, and agribusiness.
- The cutting-edge platform run by IFC will endeavor to fulfil the World Bank's pledge of $30 billion to address the food crisis.

ISRO’s Chandrayaan-2 spectrometer maps abundance of sodium on moon for first time
Why in News:
- According to the Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO), the X-ray spectrometer 'Class' of the Chandrayaan-2 orbiter has mapped the abundant sodium on the Moon for the first time.
key points:
- Earlier, the X-ray Fluorescence Spectrometer (C1XS) of Chandrayaan-1 had detected sodium in X-rays from its characteristic line, which has raised the possibility of mapping the amount of sodium on the Moon.
- The abundance of sodium was mapped for the first time in 'The Astrophysical Journal Letters' using the National Space Agency CLASS (Chandrayaan-2 Large Area Soft X-ray Spectrometer).
- Manufactured at ISRO's UR Rao Satellite Center in Bengaluru, KLASS offers the clean signature of the sodium line for its high sensitivity and performance.
- According to ISRO, part of the signal may be weakly bound to lunar particles by a thin veneer of sodium atoms, and these sodium atoms can be more easily ejected from the surface by the solar wind or ultraviolet radiation.
