key points:

  • The United Nations report shows the world economy is expected to grow at 2.6% in 2022, down 0.9 percentage points from the previous year's projected rate.
  • According to UNCTAD annual trade and development report, the Russia-Ukraine war as well as rapidly rising interest rates and fiscal shortfalls in advanced economies have already turned the global recession into a global economic slowdown.
  • According to the UNCTAD Annual Trade and Development Report, this could make the situation worse than the financial crisis of 2008 and the COVID-19 induced shocks of 2020.

"Matdata Junction"

  • The radio series "Matdata Junction" has been launched by the Chief Election Commissioner of India, Rajiv Kumar.

  • Matdata Junction is a one-year voter awareness program jointly launched by the Election Commission of India (ECI) and All India Radio (AIR).
  • Matdata Junction Radio Series consisting of 52 episodes is produced by ECI in association with All India Radio.
  • Matdata Junction aims to remove the apathy of the urban population towards voting and create awareness about the importance of elections in safeguarding democracy.
  • Matdata Junction will run for 15 minutes and will be broadcast on All India Radio Network every Friday during the 7 pm to 9 pm slot.
  • Matdata Junction will be broadcast in 23 languages ​​including Hindi, English and other regional languages.
  • The episodes covered under Matdata Junction will be themed, such as Voter Registration, EVMs, Informed and Ethical Voting, Value of Vote, Inclusive and Accessible Elections, Stories of Election Officers, Model Code of Conduct, IT Applications etc.
  • Matdata Junction has also included Citizen Corner which enables citizens to ask questions and give suggestions to improve the election process to make it more participatory and inclusive.
  • The theme of the first episode of Matdata Junction is "Matdata Junction” and will air on 7 October this year.

  • Sarthak has been implemented jointly by NIMHANS and HelpAge India with an aim to ensure mental well-being of the elderly.

  • Sarthak is a community-based initiative that provides training to nurses, healthcare workers and volunteers on old age mental health.
  • National Institute of Mental Health and Neurosciences (NIMHANS) and an NGO named HelpAge India collaborated to implement the Sarthak initiative.
  • Under the Sarthak initiative, 10,000 mental health workers will also be trained to identify and combat mental health issues faced by older people.
  • Under the Sarthak scheme, training will also be provided for non-specialist health workers and community caregivers through customized online modules focusing on specific categories like non-specialist health task force, informal caregivers and institutional caregivers. Will be done.
  • According to the NGO HelpAge, more than 20 percent of adults aged 60 and older suffer from mental or neurological disorders such as dementia and depression.

SBI launches 'Gram Seva Program'

  • On the occasion of Gandhi Jayanti, 30 remote villages in aspirational districts of 6 Indian states of Haryana, Gujarat, Maharashtra, Punjab, Tamil Nadu (TN) and West Bengal (WB) have been adopted by State Bank of India (SBI).

  • This adoption has been done under the fourth phase of SBI Gram Seva program.
  • With this, the Gram Seva program will reach a total of 130 villages, out of which 75 villages are from aspirational districts notified by NITI Aayog (National Institute).
  • SBI Gram Seva, a flagship scheme of SBI Foundation, was launched in the year 2017 under the Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) of the Bank.
  • The Gram Seva program envisages comprehensive development of villages by proactive interventions in areas such as education, healthcare, livelihood and infrastructure.
  • So far, 100 villages in 16 states have been adopted in 3 phases under the Gram Seva Program.
