UNCTAD annual trade and development report
Why in News:
- UNCTAD has released its Annual Business and Development Report 2022.
key points:
- The United Nations report shows the world economy is expected to grow at 2.6% in 2022, down 0.9 percentage points from the previous year's projected rate.
- According to UNCTAD annual trade and development report, the Russia-Ukraine war as well as rapidly rising interest rates and fiscal shortfalls in advanced economies have already turned the global recession into a global economic slowdown.
- According to the UNCTAD Annual Trade and Development Report, this could make the situation worse than the financial crisis of 2008 and the COVID-19 induced shocks of 2020.
- According to UNCTAD Annual Trade and Development Report, the Indian economy, which is the largest in the sector, will grow by 5.7% in the year 2022 and 4.7% in the year 2023.
- The Geneva-based UN body has been releasing this report since 1981 to provide an analysis of major current economic trends and policy issues of global concern.
- It provides recommendations to boost the global economy so as to improve people's lives and secure the future of the planet.

"Matdata Junction"
Why in News:
- The radio series "Matdata Junction" has been launched by the Chief Election Commissioner of India, Rajiv Kumar.
key points:
- Matdata Junction is a one-year voter awareness program jointly launched by the Election Commission of India (ECI) and All India Radio (AIR).
- Matdata Junction Radio Series consisting of 52 episodes is produced by ECI in association with All India Radio.
- Matdata Junction aims to remove the apathy of the urban population towards voting and create awareness about the importance of elections in safeguarding democracy.
- Matdata Junction will run for 15 minutes and will be broadcast on All India Radio Network every Friday during the 7 pm to 9 pm slot.
- Matdata Junction will be broadcast in 23 languages including Hindi, English and other regional languages.
- The episodes covered under Matdata Junction will be themed, such as Voter Registration, EVMs, Informed and Ethical Voting, Value of Vote, Inclusive and Accessible Elections, Stories of Election Officers, Model Code of Conduct, IT Applications etc.
- Matdata Junction has also included Citizen Corner which enables citizens to ask questions and give suggestions to improve the election process to make it more participatory and inclusive.
- The theme of the first episode of Matdata Junction is "Matdata Junction” and will air on 7 October this year.
- Matdata Junction program will also be broadcast on Twitter, News on AIR App and YouTube.

Sarthak scheme
Why in News:
- Sarthak has been implemented jointly by NIMHANS and HelpAge India with an aim to ensure mental well-being of the elderly.
key points:
- Sarthak is a community-based initiative that provides training to nurses, healthcare workers and volunteers on old age mental health.
- National Institute of Mental Health and Neurosciences (NIMHANS) and an NGO named HelpAge India collaborated to implement the Sarthak initiative.
- Under the Sarthak initiative, 10,000 mental health workers will also be trained to identify and combat mental health issues faced by older people.
- Under the Sarthak scheme, training will also be provided for non-specialist health workers and community caregivers through customized online modules focusing on specific categories like non-specialist health task force, informal caregivers and institutional caregivers. Will be done.
- According to the NGO HelpAge, more than 20 percent of adults aged 60 and older suffer from mental or neurological disorders such as dementia and depression.
- The Longitudinal Aging Study of India (LASI) report estimates that 14 million senior citizens in India will face mental health issues by the year 2050.
- The Bengaluru-based National Institute of Mental Health and Neurosciences (NIMHANS) is India's top center for mental health and neuroscience education.
- NIMHANS functions under the aegis of the Union Ministry of Health and operates autonomously as an Institute of National Importance.

SBI launches 'Gram Seva Program'
Why in News:
- On the occasion of Gandhi Jayanti, 30 remote villages in aspirational districts of 6 Indian states of Haryana, Gujarat, Maharashtra, Punjab, Tamil Nadu (TN) and West Bengal (WB) have been adopted by State Bank of India (SBI).
key points:
- This adoption has been done under the fourth phase of SBI Gram Seva program.
- With this, the Gram Seva program will reach a total of 130 villages, out of which 75 villages are from aspirational districts notified by NITI Aayog (National Institute).
- SBI Gram Seva, a flagship scheme of SBI Foundation, was launched in the year 2017 under the Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) of the Bank.
- The Gram Seva program envisages comprehensive development of villages by proactive interventions in areas such as education, healthcare, livelihood and infrastructure.
- So far, 100 villages in 16 states have been adopted in 3 phases under the Gram Seva Program.

'Insure India' has been launched by HDFC Life Insurance Company Limited (HDFC Life).

- The Insure India campaign aims to educate Indians about life insurance and motivate them to secure their future with the Insure India financial product that offers the twin benefits of protection and long-term savings.
- As part of the Insure India campaign, HDFC Life will also launch chat shows, on-ground activities and webinars to engage with consumers directly and indirectly.
- At present, the coverage of insurance in India is around 3 per cent.
- HDFC Life Insurance Limited Company (HDFC Life) is a joint venture between HDFC Limited and abrdn (Mauritius Holdings) 2006 Limited, (a global investment company).
- HDFC Life aims to provide customers with innovative products and superior levels of services through physical and digital routes.
- The insurer has a wide range of products that offer long-term savings along with the twin benefits of protection to the customers depending on their standard of living requirements.

- Four regional winners have also been honored this year by the Nansen Prize Committee, including a refugee aid Cocoa Cooperative in Costa Rica in the US, a volunteer refugee firefighters’ group in Mauritius in West Africa, the humanitarian organization Meeks Myanmar which is an organization in Asia and the Pacific helps displaced people and includes an Iraqi gynecologist known for providing medical and psychological support.
- The Nansen Prizes will be presented to Merkel and the other winners at a ceremony in Geneva, Switzerland, on October 10, 2022.
- The Nansen Prize is presented each year by the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) to an individual, group or organization in recognition of their contribution to the aid of refugees, stateless or displaced people.
- The Nansen Prize was created in 1954 in honor of the first United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees, Arctic explorer and humanitarian Fridtjof Nansen.
- Eleanor Roosevelt was the first person to receive the Nansen Prize.
- UNHCR is a UN agency involved in the protection of refugees and displaced and stateless communities.
- UNHCR is involved in their voluntary repatriation, local integration and resettlement in a foreign country.
