Cannes Film Festival 2022

  • The opening ceremony of the Cannes Festival saw the largest ever official Indian delegation on the red carpet.

  • Cannes Film Festival is organized in France from May 17 to 28, 2022.
  • India's largest delegation to the Cannes Film Festival was led by the Union Minister for Information and Broadcasting, Shri Anurag Thakur.
  • A total of 11 members were given an opportunity to make their presence felt on the red carpet in this festival held in France.
  • Folk artist Mr Mame Khan got the opportunity to be the first member of the Indian contingent to lead the red carpet.
  • For the first time, various regional cinema artists along with prominent artists have been included in the Indian delegation.

Democracy group headed by Election Commission of India on 'Electoral Integrity

  • The Democracy Group on 'Electoral Integrity' will be headed by the Election Commission of India in partnership with 100 democratic countries.

  • As part of the 'Summit for Democracy', India will lead the 'Democracy Group on Electoral Integrity.
  • This has been announced by a four-member US delegation led by Uzra Zeya, Under Secretary for Civil Defense, Democracy and Human Rights, in a meeting held at the Electoral House in New Delhi.
  • In this conference, India will share its knowledge, technical expertise and experiences with other democratic countries of the world.
