Homoeopathy is an alternative treatment method developed in Germany 200 years ago. The characteristic feature of homoeopathy treatment is the small, white, sugar-coated medicines that have plant, animal, and mineral-based compounds. These include arsenic, arnica, red onion, and crushed whole bees. These products are usually mixed with sugar to form pellets that are placed under the tongue.

Homoeopathy has always been controversial since its theories do not align with scientific concepts. However, the treatment method is still preferred by many people worldwide.

World Homeopathy Day

World homoeopathy day is celebrated every year between 10th and 16th April. The day celebrates the field as a safe and natural way of treatment. The first day of this week, 10th April is marked as the birthday of Dr Christian Friedrich Samuel Hahnemann, a German physician who first popularized homoeopathy. For the rest of the awareness week, many people come together to commemorate the founder's birth anniversary and raise awareness on homoeopathy.

In India, the Central Council for Research in Homeopathy (CCRH) organizes conventions, conferences, and activities. The council works under the Ministry of AYUSH (Ayurveda, Yoga and Naturopathy, Unani, Siddha, and Homeopathy).

Homoeopathy as an Alternative Treatment

Homoeopathy has existed since the 19th century and was boosted after extensive work by Dr Samuel Hahnemann. He experimented on himself as he took regular doses of cinchona bark and reported improvements from fever caused by malaria. Dr Hahnemann was very positive about homoeopathy treatments and claimed that he could cure nearly all acute diseases. Today, several people believe that they have been cured with the help of homoeopathy. However, many scientists are still sceptical of the treatment method.
