The Bhadla Solar Park in India is the world's largest solar power park. The 14,000-acre park is located in Bhadla, an arid and sandy area of Rajasthan. At the park, nearly 10 million solar panels contribute to a total operational capacity of 2245MW.

Bhalla's average temperature is roughly 46 to 48 degrees Fahrenheit, with a sandy, dry, and arid environment with regular sandstorms. Because this type of environment is typically unlivable, it is great for harnessing solar energy and creating large quantities of electricity.

Features of the Bhadla Solar Park

  • The Rajasthan Renewable Energy Corporation (RREC) has allocated land for the Bhadla Solar Park project's execution in collaboration with the state government. For phase two of the project, RSPDCL leased 1,800 hectares of land.
  • Bhadla Solar Park has a capacity of 2.25 gigawatts (GW) and is stretched across 56 square kilometres, with enough electricity to power four and a half million households at full capacity.
  • Rajasthan Renewable Energy Corporation Limited (RRECL) has built 745 MW of projects through its subsidiary, Rajasthan Solar Park Development Company Limited (RSPDCL).
  • Construction of the Bhadla Solar Park began in July 2015, and the first phase was completed in October 2018. The second phase was completed in April 2019, with the third and fourth stages following in March 2020.
  • The Bhadla Solar Park's first phase has seven solar power plants with a total capacity of 75MW, while phase two includes 10 solar power plants with a total capacity of 680MW.
  • Bhadla Solar Park Phases three and four each comprise 10 solar power plants with a combined capacity of 1,000MW and 500MW.
