  • Pronunciation: bas-chuhn/ बैस्चन
  • Part of Speech: Noun
  • Meaning:
    a. a fortified place.
    b. anything seen as preserving or protecting some quality, condition, etc.:
  • Synonyms: citadel, bulwark, stronghold
  • Antonyms: weakness, deficiency, blemish
  • Usage in a sentence: He has always been a bastion of utmost integrity.

4.  Word: Lurch ( झटका)

  • Pronunciation: lurch/लर्च
  • Part of Speech: Verb, Noun
  • Meaning: 
    a. make an abrupt, unsteady, uncontrolled movement or series of movements; stagger. [Verb]
    b. an abrupt uncontrolled movement, especially an unsteady tilt or roll. [Noun]

5. Word: Churn ( मथना/आन्दोलित होना)

  • Pronunciation: चर्न (chur-n)

  • Meaning
    (a) a machine for making butter by shaking milk or cream (मंथन) (noun)
    (b) move or cause to move about vigorously (मन्थन करना) (verb)

6. Word: Ripple (तरंगतरंगित करना)

  • Pronunciation: rip-uhl/ रिपल

  • Meaning:
    a. a small wave or series of waves on the surface of water, especially as caused by a slight breeze or an object dropping into it. [Noun]
    b. (of a sound or feeling) spread through a person, group, or place. [Verb]

  • Pronunciation: ag-nos-tik/ ऐग्नास्टिक

    a. a person who believes that nothing is known or can be known of the existence or nature of God. [Noun]
    b. relating to agnostics or agnosticism. [Adjective]
  • Synonyms: faithless, sceptic, dubious, unbelieving
  • Antonyms: believer, devout, adherent
  • Usage in a Sentence: These notices are sometimes the only way the agnostic or the non-church member can find of expressing their grief.

9.  Word: Rhetoric (शब्दाडम्बर)

  • Pronunciationret-er-ik
  • Part of Speech: Noun
  • Meaning: language designed to have a persuasive or impressive effect, but which is often regarded as lacking in sincerity or meaningful content.
  • Synonyms: Elocution, Discourse, Bombast
  • Antonyms: Conciseness, Quiet
  • Use in a Sentence: As the elections are just one week away, the rhetoric on both parties is building.

10. Word: Rigour (कठिनाई)

  • Pronunciationrig-er/ रीगर
  • Part of Speech: Noun
  • Meaning
    a. the quality of being extremely thorough and careful
    b. severity or strictness
    c. harsh and demanding conditions
  • Synonyms: stringency, severity, harshness
  • Antonyms: agility, adaptability, leniency, benevolence
  • Usage in a sentence: They underwent the rigours of military training
