What is XAT Decision Making?

The Decision Making section of XAT is entirely a different section as compared to other MBA Entrance Exams. The questions of this section are basically long passages like in Reading Comprehension passages, and they are related to logical and managerial concepts. The passages of the XAT Decision Making are mainly ethical, management, and human dilemma based. The candidates must have interpretive and analytical skills to answer the XAT DM questions. This section consists of 21 questions (7 sets of 3 questions each) having a negative marking of 0.25 marks for each incorrect answer. The XAT Decision Making section has a sectional XAT Cut Off for both HRM and BM courses; however, there is no individual sectional time limit.

Below is the list of question formats in which the Decision Making questions in XAT are asked

  • Single Question Prompts: These are the critical reasoning questions, where a single paragraph is given, followed by 1 question only.
  • 2-3 Questions per Prompt: These questions contain a moderate prompt followed by 2-3 XAT Decision Making questions.
  • 4-5 Questions per Prompt: These are the long caselets problem, followed by 4 to 5 questions.

  • Verification – Always verify your answer. Often candidates can come down to two options that appear to be equally valid. In such a scenario, choose the more ideal one rather than the practical one.
