To find: Zeroes by factorizing the equation x2 − x − 6 = 0
We find the zeroes by factorizing the equation x2 − x − 6 = 0 as follows:
x2 − x − 6 = 0
The above equation can be written as:
⇒ x2 − 3x + 2x − 6 = 0
Taking common we get:
⇒ x(x − 3) + 2(x − 3) =0
⇒ (x + 2) (x − 3) = 0
In simplification we get the:
⇒ x + 2 = 0, x − 3 = 0
⇒ x = −2, x = 3.
Hence, the zeroes of the polynomial x2 − x − 6 = 0 are 3, -2.
