Why is Article 14, 19, and 21 called the Golden Triangle?

The Golden Triangle of the Indian Constitution includes Articles 14,19 and 21. Article 14 talks about the Right to Equality, Article19 is the Right to Freedom, and Article 21 Right to Life and Liberty, These articles are of significant importance in the concept of the rule of law. Without these articles, the basic principles of the smooth running of life for the citizen in the country would be impossible. That is why Articles 14, 19, and 21 are called the Golden Triangle. The Golden Triangle provided full protection to the citizens from any harm to their rights.

Golden Triangle of the Indian Constitution

  • Article 14- Says that the state shall not deny any person equality before the law within the territorial limits of India or based on caste, religion, sex, or birthplace.
  • Article 19- is about the protection of certain rights about the freedom of expression and speech, all the citizens in India have the freedom of expression & speech, to form unions, to assemble peacefully, to move freely through the territory of India, to practice and profession, and to settle in any place in India.
  • Article 21- talks about the protection of life and personal liberty. As per article 21, no person shall be deprived of personal liberty and life except according to the procedure that has been established by law.
