Who has Written the Constitution of India?

The Constitution of India was written by Prem Bihari Narayan Raizada who was a famous calligrapher at that time. It was handwritten in italics by him and later crafted and decorated by Santiniketan artists such as Behar Ram Manohar Sinha and Nand Lal Bose. A Drafting Committee led by B.R. Ambedkar drafted the Indian Constitution, which originally contained 22 parts, 8 schedules, and 395 articles.

Prem Behari Narain Raizada spent six months writing 395 articles, eight schedules, and a preamble in English and Hindi. He used Hindoo dip-pen nibs from Birmingham and 303 pens for Hindi calligraphy. In December 1901, he was born into a calligrapher family and was later approached by Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru to be a calligrapher for the Indian Constitution.

The newly independent country’s constitution was completed after 11 sessions and numerous discussions and modifications. Raizada, who had a degree from St. Stephen’s College in New Delhi, worked for Govan Brothers.
