- Alan Turing
The father of modern computer is Alan Turing. The early development of the computer is credited to Alan Turing. He created the Turing machine, which gave rise to the idea of computations and algorithms. He was born in England on June 23, 1912.
The inventive mathematician Alan Turing is widely acknowledged as the father of modern computer science.
His ground-breaking concept was to build a device that would convert mental activities into numerical values. The machine would read a tape containing a series of ones and zeros that represented the steps necessary to complete a task or problem. It took nine years for the technology to develop to the point where a machine could be constructed to test his theories, and the machine was successful. Today, the same basic idea underlies every digital computer we use.
