William Wundt, a German psychologist is credited as the father of psychology

Wilhelm Maximilian Wundt was the founder of the first laboratory dedicated to psychology in the year 1879. He worked extremely hard in the development of psychology as a discipline and explained how it was a branch of science different from other branches like philosophy and biology. Thus, his contributions earned him the title of father of psychology. 

Furthermore, his lab became the centre for young minds with an interest in psychology from America, Germany and Britain. Later, many other laboratories were built on the Wundt model.
