Who Built the Red Fort of Agra?

Red Fort of Agra or Agra Fort was constructed during 1565-1573 under the commission of Mughal Emperor Akbar. It was the residence of the Sikarwar clan ruler till 1638 after which the Mughals occupied it. It is located on the Westbank of the Yamuna river which is 2 km far from the Taj Mahal. In ancient times Agra was the capital of India.

Red Fort of Agra or Lal Kila was constructed by the Mughal emperor Akbar in 1565. It is a massive red-sandstone fort used for the residence of the military base but later Shah Jahan converted it to a palace and in 1658  Aurangzeb used it to prison his father Shah Jahan for 8 years.
