Here’s a fact. Whenever a calamity hits the human race, be it natural or man-made, it is the poorest that suffer the most. Simply put, the sections of society that are denied equal access to resources are the ones who suffer more than others. For instance, in a poor household, the women, children, and elder family members don’t get access to reliable healthcare and even lack basic human necessities such as shelter, food, clothes, and education.

Furthermore, in underdeveloped countries with fewer resources, little or no infrastructure, and unstable governments, these marginalised groups are treated the worse. In underprivileged families, education for women is considered a waste and they don’t get enough opportunities to grow as individuals. Also, older people and children are at a disadvantage during natural disasters like famine and earthquakes that cause destruction.
