The Mahalanobis Plan
The second five-year plan came to be known as the Mahalanobis Plan, as it majorly adopted the Nehru-Mahalanobis model in its approach. The plan focused on the rapid development of heavy industries and prioritizing investment goods as they would lead to economic growth. The plan also explores the scope of investment in the various economic sectors.
The goal was to meet all types of demand and increase the consumer goods supply by increasing production and investments in the small and household industries.
