The consequences of a deficiency of hemoglobin in our bodies is – it makes a person anemic, decrease the oxygen carrying capacity of blood and slow functioning of body parts.
Consequences of a Deficiency of Hemoglobin
- A pigment called haemoglobin aids in distributing oxygen via the blood to every region of the body.
- It serves as an oxygen carrier and is found in red blood cells.
- An individual becomes anaemic due to a haemoglobin shortage, which results in a reduction in red blood cells.
- The blood’s ability to carry oxygen will be reduced if haemoglobin levels are low.
- As a result of the reduced availability of oxygen, a decrease in haemoglobin in the blood causes bodily parts to operate slowly and causes weakness.
Types of Hemoglobin
The main types of Haemoglobin are –
- The most prevalent type of haemoglobin found in adult humans is haemoglobin A. It consists of two alpha chains and two beta chains together.
- Approximately 2-3% of the haemoglobin contained in an adult person is haemoglobin A2, which is made up of two alpha and two delta chains.
- The combination of two alpha and two gamma chains is known as haemoglobin F, and it is found in neonates’ blood (1% of its haemoglobin).
Summary:-
What would be the Consequences of a deficiency of Hemoglobin in our bodies?
