What is the Full Form of NITI Aayog?

NITI Aayog was established in January 2015 after the Union Cabinet passed a resolution. The full form is National Institution for Transforming India. This aayog was set up to provide some directional and policy inputs. It is also called the Think Tank of the government. The planning commission and NITI Aayog may sound similar but have different approaches. NITI Aayog will ensure the states' involvement, and the latter will provide plans which work for all.

Functions of NITI Aayog:

  • Provide structured plans and mechanisms to the states.
