What is the Difference Between a Reflex Action and Walking?
By BYJU'S Exam Prep
Updated on: September 25th, 2023
Reflex action is involuntary whereas walking is a voluntary action. The central nervous system is involved in reflex action whereas brain is involved in walking. The reflex action is not under control while walking can be modified.
Reflex Action
It is an unintentional action in which a portion of the central nervous system is engaged.
The Action of Neuron
Afferent nerves (receptor) and efferent nerves, two neurons, control the route (effector or excitor).
The following gives a succinct summary of what happens:
- First, the process starts when the receptor notices the stimulus or a quick change in the surroundings, when instinct once more plays a part. A sensory organ provides the stimulus.
- The relay neuron is then alerted by the sensory neuron.
- The relay neuron then transmits the signal to the motor neuron.
- The motor neuron additionally signals the effector.
- An immediate reaction is brought on by the effector, such as a knee-jerk reaction or the hand pulling away.

Summary:-
What is the Difference Between a Reflex Action and Walking?
Walking is a voluntary movement as opposed to reflex action, which is involuntary. While the brain is engaged in walking, the central nervous system is involved in reflex action. Even if walking can be altered, the reflex action is not under control.
