What is Remote Sensing?

Remote Sensing is observing and detecting the physical attributes of a particular area by collecting the radiations emitted or reflected by the surface or surroundings, usually through a satellite. Remote sensing actually includes the collection of images.

Special cameras are deployed for this purpose that collects these images that are later used by the researchers to develop a whole sense of the Earth.

Remote Sensing and Its Uses

Remote Sensing is defined as the process of observing and detecting certain attributes of an area or object with the help of images or radiations that are emitted from the object's surface or surroundings. Remote Sensing is widely used in the research of the Earth. It includes gathering or collecting images through which researchers can take an idea of the Earth.

In other words, without getting close to the surface of the Earth or making any physical contact, remote sensing helps draw a plot purely based on the radiations that it emits.

It is widely used in other fields as well, such as geology, geography, land surveying, and military operations.
